If you can afford to take your cat to a pet groomer, they do an excellent job for about $30 to $50 bucks. Otherwise, do it yourself. Clip their nails - just the tips off and put on a pair of rubber gloves. Put the cat in warm (NOT HOT) water and not too much so you don't scare them. Just use a mild soap like a baby shampoo and be very gentle. Talk to your cat and reassure them while you are bathing. IT may require two people. I bathe my cats and it does require two people because they are large cats and very strong. No cat likes water or a bath. Good Luck.

If you don't want to give your cat an actualy bath there are these cloths that you can buy at Petco. They are called Kitty bath. They are wipes that have soap and disinfectant in them already. All you need to do is just hold your cat in your lap and just wipe her down with the cloth. She smells like she just took a bath. Simple as pie.

If you wash your cat, I would use a shampoo specifically formulated for cats. This may be stupid, but I used my own products to wash one of my cats, and she got really sick from licking it off. Also, cats are afraid of water, so she may fight back simply to keep away from the water. If you are not in the mood to get scratched, have your local vet to bathe her, it dosen't cost that much. But I do have some cats who don't fight back, they just stiffen up out of fear and howl a lot. Be gentle with your kitty for this is a traumatic experience for them and in addition to using animal shampoo, do not use standing water, but rinse her, and use luke warm water. Towel dry and use a hair dryer (low heat) to dry her.

I'm sure you were looking for a simpler answer, but I hope this will help.

Coughing up a fur ball is only right. You must sacrifice for your cat.

no idiot. you need some cat shampoo.thats what we did to my cat,Sabanna.first put her in a tub of warm water. but you have to hold her down in the water because cats don't like water, and the cat will try to escape. but you keep her body down in the water[make sure you don't wet her ears because she can die]. but when her whole body is wet[exept the ears], you put an even amount of the shampoo in your hands and massage it on her head and neck, then when the soap is massaged in, you need to scractch it(the SAME way you scratch your head when you wash it). then do the same thing on her back and stomach. and don't forget to do her tail too and under her nails. and make sure you clean inside her paws too. when you are done shampooing her, you need to comb her body out. then you take her out the tub and dry her off with a dry towel. she will still be wet when you get done drying her off, but she'll lick all the wetness off of her fur.
don't forget to clean your bathtub out.
good luck!

i HOPE she doesn't scratch you!

LOL! if your were being serious then just fill up water in a bathtub a little bit and plop her in. i wouldnt recomend licking her clean because you would have to lick all the private places and the cat would scratch you clean!!!
