I think this is where alot of the conflict comes from. Why can't people from different religions just leave people who have other faiths alone rather than trying to convert everyone.

I don't need to, Islam speaks for itself, and Christianity isn't completely wrong. Islam branches from Christianity like Christianity branches from Judaism, so to deny Christianity or Judaism would be to deny Islam. Just as Jesus (saws) came to teach the Jews who were misguided and going down the wrong path, Muhammad came for the same thing. Disagreement in a topic or two does not deem the whole religion wrong.
Unlike in Christianity, Islam does not deny heaven to all non-Muslims, nor does it guarantee heaven to all who call themselves Muslim. God judges us based on what we did in life with the health, wealth and knowledge he gave us, and more importantly what our intentions are behind those deeds. Some of us go through experiences in life that prevent us from knowing who He truly is. We are given wrong impressions or sometimes none at all. Why would he punish a person for something they had no control over?

Well, first of all there lies the fact (not even a misconception anymore) that terrorism does NOT equal to Islam. I think the whole world knows this by now, so there is no use trying to reinforce an image of Islam being barbarric... please, I'm sorry to use emotive words but speaking as if you know something about Islam is pathetic, especially if you don't know jack!
Secondly, when it comes to the issue of making Christians believe that blah blah blah... Why is there always a Christian-Muslim barrier?!?! Why are some people always trying to make Christians seem like the enemy of Islam?! If you read the Qur'an, you would have noticed surely the verse where it relates to Christians as being closest to Islam of all religions.
Thirdly, nobody can make somebody believe in anything. We, as Homo sapiens, do not have the ability to control the free-will of others. Only the One who mercifully gave us free-will can "guide" it to the right path. And as we all know, in Islam no FORCE is allowed to be used on others in regards to making them believe this religion (another proof that Islam is NOT barbaric). So whatever religion you are; either Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, or even Atheist (since they still "believe" that there is no diety) we can not violate human rights in forcing them to accept our religion. This is not a fooball match where if you are not on my team, I am against you.. no! If we are to live in peace on the face of this world, we are to do less talk and use less force, and rather be an ACTIVE example with our actions of who we are in regards to being an identity in society (such as a Muslim).
I believe the main problem we as humans have is that everyone thinks they belong to the best group, but we need to be broadminded and "show" rather than "talk" about our religion, coz what would be the use of talking about something when people don't see the beauty of it in you?
Edit: and thank you jurgen for simplifying what i wanted to say :)

The religion is Islam, the adherents are Muslims. As a Muslim, which I'm not, I would accept that Jesus was a great prophet, (along with Moses et al) but not the son of God (which he never claimed to be). Few Muslims try to convert people.
It's a pity there weren't more Christians who thought the same. As a Christian, which I might be, I believe that a person's religion is his own business. If we had religious tolerance we wouldn't be in the mess we are today.

Islam, Christianity, both should be allowed to get their message out. Tell the world of the way God has told you in the path to Him. Then if the world says they aren't interested, that's the time to stop. I would be most pleased to hear why a Muslim holds his faith so dear. I just think it's wrong to kill everyone who doesn't except the message..

arguement for islam?
ishmael...abram's first born son...who the nation of islam sprang from
to convince a christian that they are wrong and that islam is the true religion...there is more than enough religion bashing, peeople saying: MY GOD IS BETTER THAN YOUR GOD
MY GOD IS BETTER THAN YOUR GOD
MY GOD IS BETTER THAN YOUR GOD
there is more than enough bashing of religion...so why should i try to convince anyone of anything other than the need to:
establish and maintain a deep close personal relationship with your higher power

i believe this has a historical answer which i hope to be enlightened by an islam [muslim] if inaccurate.
once upon a time in some muslim empire, the non-believers were forced to pay extra taxes . the taxation motivated the nonbelievers into converting to islam & avoid the tax. eventually& as the coffers drained the ruling muslim powers curbed the conversion numbers so to restore the coffers.

Islam is a hateful and vilolent religion that calls for the death of anyone who refuses to believe in it, from what i know. And a christian whose religion teaches love towards oneanother wouldnt be likely to convert to that.
