if Christ established Sunday to replace the seventh-day Sabbath, why did He tell His disciples, “Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath” (Mark 2:28)?
Please answer from Mark since i don't need to know twisted explanation from other gospels since they were not all togheter in the bible till 325 AD. Each gospel was a separate teaching of that time.

But here is an irony: When confronted with the truth of what the Bible really says on a matter, most will attempt to deny the facts, however indisputable. They will twist, distort and blur the issues in order to hold to cherished beliefs, preferring what is familiar to what is right—and true!

“We move from the ‘Sabbath’ to the ‘first day after the Sabbath’, from the seventh day to the first day: the dies Domini becomes the dies Christi!…By contrast, the Sabbath’s position as the seventh day of the week suggests for the Lord’s Day a complimentary symbolism, much loved by the Fathers. Sunday is not only the first day, it is also ‘the eighth day’, set within the sevenfold succession of days…”

“Answer: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 363), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.”

I agree with you, Saturday was, is and will forever be the Sabbath.
This is the path people usually take, they believe in the 10 commandments and believe they should be kept... until they realize they are breaking the 4th. Then they say “It was changed to Sunday”. Followed by "We worship on the Lord's Day, Sunday" Then "There’s a verse somewhere" or they take a verse out of context like Romans 14 . Followed by “It doesn’t matter which day, why are you being fanatical?”. Then “It was done away with”. When proven wrong they then throw out the whole law and say “We have a new law” which conveniently leaves out the 4th so they can continue doing as they please. Rather than them changing they try to change the law. Daniel 7:25
This question often comes up and people always repeat the same excuses for breaking this commandment.
First,
God created the Sabbath as part of creation week. On the 6th day He created Adam and Eve then He created the Sabbath on the 7th day. For anyone to say that the Sabbath was given only to the Jews is 100%, incorrect it was first given to Adam and Eve who we all descend from. This was hundreds of years before, Abraham the Father of the Jewish nation, was born.
People need to understand the importance and the reason behind the Sabbath. Look at the scriptures, God creates man and the very next thing He does is create a Holy day of rest. Why? Because He was tired? or so that He could commune with them?
The truth is God loves us so much and wants to spend quality time with us. Throughout the week we have school, work and other things that distract us from God. So he created one day that we could focus only on Him.
The purpose of the Sabbath is the fact that God wants to take time to be with us and He wants us to set aside time on His Holy day to devote 100% of our focus and attention on Him, our Creator.
Is the Sabbath a burden? God doesn't think so, in fact He says the exact opposite throughout the Bible.
And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law. Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
Nehemiah 8:9-11
"If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD's holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob." The mouth of the LORD has spoken. Isaiah 58:13,14
God says the Sabbath is a delight, keeping it you will find joy in the Lord, if you keep it He will make you ride on the heights of the earth, and you will feast on the inheritance of Jacob. I can't find anything in that statement that sounds like a burden.
For any Christian to say that the Sabbath is a curse or a burden and Jesus freed us from the burden of keeping the Sabbath is ridiculous.
1) God says rest and people call it a burden or a curse. How many people go on vacation and say "I hate having to rest and enjoy my vacation with the people I love. I wish I could go back to work, get chewed out by my boss be stressed out over the workload and stress over bills." Does that make any sense?
or
2) God says "Come and spend time with me." And his people, who say they love him, say "It is a burden to focus on God."
The church is the Bride of Christ. How many husbands would be pleased if they planned something special for their anniversary and their wives said "It is a burden to spend time with you."
Other people say that Sunday is the new Sabbath. Yet they never produce one verse that says this, because it is not in the Bible. Sunday is not the Lord's day either. The Sabbath(Saturday) is called the Lord's day
Exodus 20:8
Isa 58:14
Matthew 28:8
Mark 1:21
Luke 6:5
Other people say that the Sabbath was done away with. If this is so then why does God say we will keep it in Heaven?
Isaiah 66:22,23
Others say Jesus fulfilled the law meaning he got rid of it so we don't have to follow them. What does Jesus say
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill."
so what Jesus really meant was.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to get rid of them.(or end them, or finish them, etc.) It doesn't make sense
Jesus said:
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:18,19
Finally Christians say Jesus gave us a new covenant with new rules, love God and love your neighbor. This is incorrect for 2 reasons
1)they area summary of the 10 commandments. 1-4 love God, 5-10 love your brother.
2)The "New Laws" Jesus mentioned are taken from Moses
Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Leviticus 19:18 'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD
People say Adventist are "hung up" on this point. I have a question, if a large group of Christians were saying it's ok to worship other gods or it's ok to worship idols would you speak out? Or would you say "It's ok, I don't want to correct them because I might seem fanatical."

The verse just before that says that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. Nowhere does it ever say that Sunday was to be observed at any time before or after His death. He went to the synogogue on the Sabbath day, Saturday, as it states not only in the book of Mark but many other places in the bible. "As His custom was", He went to the synogogue on the Sabbath. Even when He died on the cross, his most ardent followers thought the Sabbath so holy and sacred that they would not even embalm their most beloved Saviour on the Sabbath but waited for the first day of the week, Sunday, the day we call Easter Sunday. But He arose on that day so they did not get the chance to do it. So even being the Lord of the Sabbath, He kept the Sabbath even in His death. If He is our example, why is it so many still worship on the venerable day of the sun, a pagan holiday that was instituted by the Catholic Church rather than the day that Jesus made Holy and sanctified? By the way the oldest bible there is was found in the third century so the 325 date is a bit late. You can check it out as it is in the Cairo museum. Need to watch the history channel sometime as they do have some very interesting programs on that tell about the bible as well. Just saw that one yesterday and you can check it out.

You begin with a premise that is fake, you mis-interpret simple scripture, you're making an additional transparent blunders and you then conclude up with an irrational announcement. one million) Christ not ever modified the sabbath. Men professing to be Christians modified the sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday. Christ stated that there'll come an afternoon while we can worship in Spirit and in Truth. He didn't specify the day. Jesus remains to be immutable. two) Jews are guys. He used to be speakme to a Jew on the time. Does this shock you that Jews are human too? Or are you anti-semitic too. (Hey Mel.. is that you simply?) three) Identifying your self as an agnostic most effective we could us all realize that you simply establish your self as no longer having any expertise of God. Yet you state that "some1 goes to hell" and also you quote scipture. This makes you both a liar or a deceiver. Being both makes you a sinner and, consequently, in keeping with the Bible you quote, a simply receipient of sins gift... religious demise (Rom. 6:23). What do you suppose your safeguard earlier than God will probably be? You did not realize? Your query indicates a special quantity of lack of knowledge however most likely no longer a loss of an possibility to grasp Christ. Just like in Romans one million; you're with out excuse. Hope this is helping. Thanks for the two.

Did you read starting from Mark 2:23? Jesus is rebuking the Pharisees for trying to "catch" Him and the apostles for doing work on the Sabbath. Mar 2:27 "And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:". The importance after Jesus fulfills the Law is our communion with Him. I don't think He is concerned about which day we pick to worship Him so long as we do. The Adventists seem as hung up on this point as badly as the Jews who could not accept Jesus as Messiah because he came to grant grace and not enforce the Law.
BTW, the gospels were compiled as a group well before the Council of Nicea, which was an acknowledgment of the gospels and most of the already compiled NT as canon. Don't believe everything you read - especially related to the Da Vinci code.

Try reading the passage in context:
23One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"
25He answered, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."
27Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
This section of Mark is simply speaking of the fact that the Sabbath is not just a "do nothing and worship day", but a day that necessary things can be done. Jesus also said, "How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Matthew 12:12
Matthew Henry said "The sabbath is a sacred and Divine institution; a privilege and benefit, not a task and drudgery. God never designed it to be a burden to us, therefore we must not make it so to ourselves. The sabbath was instituted for the good of mankind, as living in society, having many wants and troubles, preparing for a state of happiness or misery. Man was not made for the sabbath, as if his keeping it could be of service to God, nor was he commanded to keep it outward observances to his real hurt. Every observance respecting it, is to be interpreted by the rule of mercy."

Christ didn't establish Sunday. Constantine did, sort of, and it kinda changed over the years. but you won't find that in Mark (or any other gospel) because it's not there.
