as your dog matures it will go farther from the area that it lives. for example: when you first begin taking ti outside it will go in the area that you stand...later it will choose an area itself...but it will be farther from the house. Dogs will not defecate/urinate in the area that they live/eat/sleep. They usually tend to go as far away from your house or the outter most area from your home.

The scent has been altered. Probably by another dog. His scent is a safety zone, another animals scent can mean danger to him.
Get a "pooper scooper" ,when he goes, scoop, and put it where you want him to start going. May take days or weeks. Be patient with him.
If you can prevent other "critters" from using this spot, do so. Just a little chicken wire for a 5 foot square might keep his spot, larger if possible

maybe your puppy can smell all that poop and wants a different place.remember that all dogs are just wolves in different packages and they want to show other dogs thier territory by going potty around what they consider thier area.try cleaning the area well and spraying the area after cleaning with some bleach, just make sure you let the bleach dry before you take the puppy back there.

well you have to get out in the yard and make sure all of there (potties) have been raked up and away. like us they dont want to look at or be around it.if that dont work try walking it. my dog went threw the same thing. i started taking him to a park and he started going in the yard again.

You can paper train them by setting a piece of newspaper in a private spot they like.

as they get bigger, they will go farther into the yard.

maybe he wants a different spot.. most dogs like to go around to where they havent been before.

as long as he is still going outside, does it really matter what part of the yard he is going to?

They go in the same place because of their scent. They look for the scent before they go. Has the place been messed with?

Dogs don't urinate just because they need to go, they urinate also because they want to mark their territory. My guess is the dog has realized that there is other unmarked territoy in their domain.
