It is a serious question which is raising doubts about the basic common-sense issues involving the Bible. What you have been asking is a genetic question if every one of the mankind is cousin to each other. To my mind and millions believe that what is written in the Bible can hardly stand the logic and the science. That is why large number of churches these days are empty on Sundays. People have started seriously questioning the veracity of the contents in the Bible it self. The Pope in Rome is only symbolising the unity of the Catholics among the Christians which is also dwindling under its own weight.

Interesting question. The Bible does not mention all of Adam and Eve's children only the significant one. The Bible states that Adam lived over 900 years. It's possilbe to have a lot of children in that time. It is quite possible that the children of Adam and Eve interbred, but as the Bible states that all things with God are possible, therefore he could have prevented any retardation that may occour in humans in present day. However, there are some that look at this as a proof that God exists, because you have to be fairly retarded to want to muder and fight and go to war with others, which we see throughout the world today, obviously a product of inbreeding. So some may argue that the whole human race is retarded, just some more than others.

There are many interpretations of the initial creation. Yes, God created Adam and Eve....and from them stemmed humanity (or rather the first nations of Earth.) Adam and Eve were presumably the only two ever in Eden, but it isn't clear that once they were thrown from Eden where others came from. Cain started the first city in recorded Biblical History. Four or five people don't constitute a city, so I would assume that God created a population outside of Eden. The lineage of Adam and Eve follows the history of God's People.

Since the Bible was written by the Prophets and not by God, it needs interpretation and cannot be taken word for word (sometimes and not others this is true). The book of Genesis was written thousands of years after God created the Earth (I think Moses wrote it) and the writer did not know how many people God created, so he said that there were only 2, Adam and Eve. I think that there were a tribe(s) of people and that's how that the Earth was populated, but I could be wrong.

There were four persons in the garden.
The players are:
Adam the first man.
Adam the first woman.
The Lord Christ/ the Tree of LIfe/ a man type.
Upright Serpent/ the Tree of Evil/ a man type.
All four walked in the garden.
The Serpent was the father of Cain
Adam was the father of Abel.
In case you missed it, half brothers carried to term by Eve the mother of all flesh.
While we all have the same mother not all of us have the same father. Cain took a half sister to wife.
There are three creation works recorded in Genesis. The woman is a separate part of the third work. The works are the creation of the world; the creation of Adam in the spirit world; and finally the creation of the physical Adam and for him the
woman.
Marriage to half sisters and cousins has never been uncommon Inbreeding was very common in "royal" lines throughout time. One example being the Pharaoh's of Egypt.
How much retardation is involved would logically have to be a retarded guess or your part or mine.

No. Adam and Eve lived for hundreds of years (probably about 800-900 years). The conditions on the earth were much different then and people lived for ages. So, although we only hear of two children, Cain and Able, there were actually hundreds of children. They were more genetically perfect than we are. Their DNA was in better shape than ours. And of course God had his hand in the matter. It was necessary for these siblings to marry each other. But after a time, God gave a law that forbid intermarriage because it was no longer necessary. So, yes, in the beginning their children did have sex with each other, but there was nothing "dirty" about it...they did not feel the shame we would feel if we had sexual relations with a brother or sister. That "dirty" feeling did not come about until God gave His law about whom you could marry.

If you look at Genesis as a frame of reference, a story rephrased to be out in terms man could understand. God created the earth, heavens, animals, and all life over a period of millions of years. But man at the time the bible was written could not grasp that so it was put in the more understandable terms of seven days. Don't take Genesis so litterally, I'm sure there were other people besides Adam and Eve

The bible mentioned that they were the first man and women being made. But I don't remember reading that they were the last or the only that was made by GOD. I think if he can make 2 people surely he can make more. I have a friend that like to read books. In his house it's like a library in there. But he only like to talk about one book in particular. No matter what he still talks about it and can read that book over and over again. I guess because that book the story is more shoik lor. So I believed that GOD wants us to know about Adam & Eve story because something to learn from this story. I also believed that it is also his favourite story. You see he made the world in a week. He won't tell you the details about how he made it and how he got his power to do it and how and so on and so forth. GOD just tell you what you need to know. GOD is a precise and a no nonsense GOD and a straight to the point GOD. The rest the story maybe either not important for us to know or we don't need to know lah. In my block can you imagine how many families live. But everyone only interested to know one particular family because that family is very special. GOD made us special like him. I don't have any reference to give you because I don't read the bible but I hope my answer is the answer to your question.

Because that story makes less sense than GWB's excuse for invading Iraq.
Cain has just killed his brother Abel. The only other two people in the world are his parents Adam and Eve. So then....
Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Where the hell did his wife come from?
As for the human race being retarded. I think that should be pretty obvious. For example, look at this guy's answer:
"Stop thinking 20th Century. Ancient civilizations did this to propagate the tribe. As civilization grew in numbers this practice stopped.
Gene pool was not as polluted as it is now."
If the gene pool was polluted to begin with it is ALWAYS going to be polluted you dim wit.

When God made them, they were pure; there wasn't any sin in the world yet. And yes, their kids did marry each other (they weren't about to marry their parents!). In Genesis 1:26-2:1 it says there was "man and woman" created, not "men & women", & then it says that Creation was "finished, & all the host of them". But as more & more sin got into the world, then yes, the more likely retardedness (if that's a word!) would come in to the picture. Just look at the royal families of Europe (better said "familY"). Was it Queen Elizabeth that is related to all the royalties of Europe, because of so much inter-marriage (in a vain effort to unite all of Europe)? That is why many of their offspring came out retarded & unable to sit on the throne.
