My daughter has a cat that is a carrier of ringworm, everytime I take my bichon around he seems to get it back, but only if he goes outside,as the her cat lives outdoors. He has had it 3 times and it's back again, and it gets expensive buying the meds for him. Also if a cat is a carrier, how do you get rid of it,he has no symptoms. You would think there would be some kind of spray for outside.

There is a powder that you get at garden supply places, it is called Captan. I have know people that sprayed it all over the lawn for that very reason. They said it worked and there was no other cases of ringworm. However, if the cat is a carrier, He is carrying it on his fur. He may not have symptoms, but if he is a carrier, he would have to be treated for the spores also.

Do not use Nolvasan Solution on the cat. There is a Chlorohexadine shampoo you can use, but you need to use it one than once!!! And it MUST sit on the cat and cover ALL fur for at least 15 min!!!!!!!!! Nolvasan Sol. is too strong to use directly on the cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your cat is a carrier it will always have and get and pass the spore. It will always have ringworm. Ringworm is an airborn spore. It can live in an inside environment up to 2 years. The ONLY thing that I am aware that will kill it is bleach. If it on your pet you can use malaseb shampoo. The enviornment has to be treated...but nothing kills it outdoors.

cats have to be in a cage when they have ringworm because it leaves the ringworm germs in your house, and probably the odor is outside now too. When you hold your cat wear gloves or you will get ringworm. do a search to see if there is a spray
