going to Waikiki for the last 3 nights...also seeing U2. Can anyone recommend a good hotel?

In a word redweek.com, check to see if you can rent a GOOD time share. The two best, Hilton Hawaii Village or Marriott Ko-Olina. Once you rent time share you will never rent a hotel room again.
Check out tripadvisor.com. Oh by the way, Expedia sucks, so does hotels.com, they will put you in a dive, same with Yahoo Travel. Okay to use them to book but read the reviews on tripadvisor.com and redweek.com.

I've been to Maui twice. First time was to get married there and the second time was a return trip the next year for fun. I love Maui! I would suggest spending more to stay at a really nice resort. There are five amazing properties on the beach in Ka'anapali. The Hyatt Regency Maui, the Maui Marriott, the Westin Maui, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, and the Sheraton Maui Hotel are excellent choices. Further south from Ka'anapali and Lahaina is the Wailea area. It, also, has five amazing resorts. Of course, these resorts will put a large 'dent' in your wallet but, anyone of them are well worth it. Plus, there are some very affordable properties in the area around Kihei. expedia.com has good deals, just plug in your dates of travel. gohawaii.com & honolulu.com craigslist.com is one of the best! just go to Hawaii after you enter the site. Congratulations & Aloha!
