Your attitude is the problem.
A true believer never doubts.
Some heroes of faith, in the Bible, believed God for many years before God ever answered them...but they never lost their faith in Him.
You're either a Believer or an Unbeliever.

There is no question of getting God into your heart, because He is already there. "I am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness". Bhagavad-gita 15.15. We are in this material world covered by two types of material bodies because of our desire to forget God and act as independent "enjoyers". In this human form, He gives us the opportunity to revive our lost relationship with Him, so then we begin to ask questions like yours.
But getting a connection with the Lord in the heart, in sanskrit known as Paramatma, is not an easy or cheap thing. He wants to know how badly you want it. God is a person, the Supreme Personality. When you want Him enough and He is pleased with your sincerity, He will make the arrangements for you to come in contact with a bona fide spiritual master so that you make further spiritual advancement.
So the answer to your question is: The Lord is already there in your heart and has been for eons. He has been witnessing everything you do, think, desire, etc through all the many millions of lives you have lived in this world. He is just waiting for you to become serious and sincere about spiritual life and want Him more than you want anything else. When that happens you will see changes happening in your life and consciousness that will make it obvious that the Lord has been there all the time.

Read LK10:11, and other verses in the bible where Jesus always goes to a lonely place to pray to the father. No matter how busy your schedule is, you must MAKE TIME for the lord away from what you are doing. That's where you will find Jesus speaking to you in your heart. Don't forget, he knows your needs even b4 you ask him! Also ask the holy spirit to help you stay focused and if you do this on a daily basis, you'll get the hang of it! God Bless!

No, your problems are not negligible to God. He has said as much in the scriptures. I would guess it may be your communication channels.
Giving service to others has always worked pretty well for me in clearing up the old communication channels. :-)

The idea of God coming "into your heart" is an invention of evangelical Christians. It's not in the Bible, as far as I know. At any rate, it's not an accurate description of human contact with the divine.
If you really seek God, it's up to you to find him. He rewards those who persistently seek truth. If you persist in your search, you will find other people helping you along the way, and circumstances lining up to lead you to the next step on your path.
God isn't a dog that comes when called. He's an essential part of you, which you have to discover by clearing away all the garbage you don't need in your life, which obscures your vision of God and truth.
A good first step in finding God is simply stopping and looking around. Everything here is for your benefit.
What's blocking your view of God? Get rid of that and see what's left.
Your problems, by the way, are yours. You created them in some way, and it's up to you to solve them. Solving them is another way to see God more clearly. Anything we value more than God gets in the way of our view of him.
God is in you and all around you. Look!

I am truly saddened by this question. I know the feeling of disappointment but to imagine that I would get such from God is unthinkable.
God is never too busy. He is omnipresent which means he can be everywhere at once...so he could never be too busy.
Your problems are not too big for God either. There is only one unpardonable sin and that is the sin of denouncing the name of Jesus Christ...even then you can say there is no God for the most of your life but as soon as you change your mind and claim Jesus Christ as the redeemer of your sins it is as though you never even belived there was no God in the first place. As soon as we believe our sins are scattered as far as the east is from the west.
Lastly, you have to mean it. God can change your heart...but you truly have to change your mind first.

How about having enough self esteem to raise yourself up and get over the notion that God (if there is one) will be a solution to your problems/issues? Get off your duff and do something about how you feel about yourself...start taking responsibility for your actions and having a more positive outlook...You'll see that your problems will become less dramatic. Stop trying to place faith outside yourself...Have faith that YOU can do virtually anything you want to do and learn to express that faith in a positive manner. PEACE!

repent of your sins past present and future sins, lets face it as long as we're here we'll have temptations.then it comes to obedient to G-D that is where everybody falls short. a person thinks his mom and pop has to be right with G-D i know I did. read the Bible from one end to the other few times get to know Him then ask from your heart to give you a heart that wants to be in total agreement with Him and his son as being one with them in thought and works ask for the spirit that they give to those that want to be in obedience to them. MAY YOU HEAR ABBA FATHER FROM WITH IN YOUR HEART AND MIND !

Or maybe God is imaginary and your imagination is not as good as other Christians.

Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The objective is to get the false God of false/true Gods OUT of your heart, not 'into' your heart; For when the foolish God of foolish/wise Gods, the dead God of dead/living Gods, the high God of high/higher Gods, the false God of false/true Gods, the law of law/grace, is in your heart, you could then have a heart 'attack' and "die" by such a "ministration of death"; Not be, not be allowed to continue the (human) race, and "by reason of death", as is noted about (law) priests of old (of such old/new) in Heb 7:23. For what's "old" of old/new, the "law" of law/grace, is also faulty of imperfect/perfect, and such mortal of mortal/immortal (law/grace) had an expiry date that expired 2000 yrs ago, also got abolished by Christ of Jesus Christ. Christ is "the end of the law", not more law of such Mt 22 law law; Our peace who hath "abolished the law", not added more law(sin & death) to "we are delivered from the law"(Rom 7:6) as if in answer to prayer: Our Father, "deliver us from evil".
Of Law/Grace (Gods), one is a "put off", to "put away".
Of High/Higher (Gods), one is notably a Higher power.
Of High/Higher things, mind not "high" things: Rom 12
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
