This depends on too many factors and is way different for everyone.
You can work out all you want at a gym, but if you increase your calorie and fat intake as a result, you might not see any results ever.
If you goto the gym but are very mild in your routine, you might take much longer to see results than someone who goes 5 days a week and goes all out on their cardio and diet routines.
If you are working hard, 3 days a week, and eating right (5 healthy meals a day) you should see results very fast. If doing it right, you can loose 5-8 pounds a month.
If weight training and doing proper nutrition for strength training, you should notice an ability to increase the weight and reps fairly fast if you are keeping a journal, which you should if weight training.

I had to stop working out from Jan-May this year and started back at the end of June and have just recently started seeing results. The 1st week I lost some water weight but at the 4th week I have seen my muscles starting to get toned. I do a mixture of cardio and weights and go to the gym 5-6 nights a week.

I think it depends on what results you are trying to achieve. In two weeks you will probably notice increased strength or stamina as you work out. If you are looking for physical changes, it could be as early as a month depending on what type of work out you are doing. If you are lifting weights vs aerobic you may see quicker results, but that also depends on how much you are doing in each work out and how hard you are pushing. I would take it slow at first so you do not hurt yourself. Please keep in mind that these early changes will be small. good luck.

Well, you will have felt strained, sore muscles by now if you were working out. By now you should feel more tone in your arms and legs. If you want to see results in the mirror, best not to look for another 12 weeks, then look and you'll see a slight difference. For men it's easier - sorry, but testosterone really helps!

It really depends on what you consider hard work. If you are really working hard at it, it takes about 2 months to see a change.

As long as you stay consistent with your workout plan you should see results in a month. Stick with it and good luck.
