Got my braces a really long time ago. had them off just about as long, too - at least from this distance of years .... Still remember that the day I had them installed, I went to work and then out for a burger at lunch. OMG what a bad idea!

For about 3 days - maybe one or two more - you need to go for SOFT stuff that doesn't clog up in the braces. SOUP is about to become VERY important to you. So is bread, and probably grilled cheese sandwiches, cut very tiny.

NOTHING hard, crunchy, or gummy. Yeah, that means nuts, chips, and caramels are out. Same with mac and cheese. I guess you also got the lecture about candy in general as well as carbonated drinks.

Shrimp should be ok as long as it's peeled, most seafood in general is reasonably soft, and you can also eat stuff you can crumble up into little bits and then reduce a tad between your tongue and the roof of the mouth before swallowing.

Of course, there's always yogurt and ICE CREAM ....

when i first got my braces, i couldn't bite very well because my teeth were numb. good thing my friend who also has braces and is getting them off later this month said that's normal. after a few days the feeling came back and now i can eat as if i never got braces!

specific by all skill have that slice of pizza! i do no longer think there is any quantity of time you may desire to attend till now ingesting. the only reason that's truly useful to be careful is via the fact your mouth is in all probability a touch sore. if that's the case persist with comfortable ingredients like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc. till you sense you may take on the harder ingredients. different than that, you may especially plenty consume something that's no longer probably hard and sticky. once I had my braces i became continuously breaking a twine through fact i ate warm tamales each and all of the time and bitter patch little ones!!! so stay faraway from issues like that! solid success! =) oh and don't chew ice!

I had problems with foods getting stuck in my braces all the time. Foods like apples and corn on the cob were especially awkward. You might want to try slightly softer foods for a while, until you get used to your braces.

When I got my braces, after they tighten them and after they first put them on it is a little sore when it comes to eating. It is at first a little awkward to talk and eat, yes but you get used to it in about 2 days to a week.

try and bite on your teeth not like chewing with your usual over bite. but. i would highly recommend juddt eating foods that are just easy to swallow without chewing like soup, mashed potatoes, etc. dont bite hard cause i have overbite and once, i bit down pretty and and broke off a bracket.
good luck. (:

Same problem when I first got them on, I eat like crazy but what to eat. I know it feels very awkward when you eat with an overbite. What to eat hmmm.... pudding, icecream, popsicles, milkshakes, just stuff you do not have to bite down on will be good and are not gummy and no sugar gum just sugar free.

Soup or egg salad sandwiches is what I ate after getting my braces tightened.
