Leave him alone for now. He'll tell you about it in his own good time.

Worst case scenario - Came up hot on the urinalysis.
almost any other minor ailment or injury is waiverable and has got to be pretty severe to get disqualified from service.
Either that or somebody yelled at him and embarrassed him over something small and insignificant. They have alot of folks to shuffle around in a short amount of time and if someone is not paying attention to detail, they are sometimes made an example of for the others to pay attention.
Does he have a record? even speeding tickets are investigated at MEPS. And they try to scare the hell out of you to keep you from lying about any incident no matter how minor.
Good luck!

He may not have passed the ASVAB. That's a reason for embarrassment for a lot of people.
He may have become embarrassed by some of the questions asked, or had a reaction to the hernia test. He may have been asked to do something that he didn't want to do, and was given a hard time.
The physical exam is in-depth, and there are a lot of questions asked that can prove to be embarrassing. Nobody knows what went on inside the examining room except your son and the doctor, so if he doesn't want to tell you, there is nothing you can do. Give him some time and he may come around.
Good luck

Communication is the most important factor in any branch of military. Perhaps he would respond to a more military type of approach in resolution of this problem. Going from point A to point B. I'm not saying to leave out the compassion though. Everyone does respond differently. Merely a suggestion. Good luck.

There could be a lot of reasons one would not be pass an enlistment physical. The Army, National Gaurd, Navy, etc. all have their requirements, just because one didn't work out dosen't mean others won't . You need to get him to tell you what went wrong before you can help him.

Proably upset in part that he didn't make it. As ot the not passing the physical, keep in mind how much can disqualify you. Something the rest of us to be nothing can be very serious to them as far as it will disqualify you. I'm sure if you talked to a ercruiter or someone knowledgeable they could give you a list of what we think of nothing that they say disqualifies you.

i was in the Air Force and took all the same tests, it could have been some simple like for example if your feet don't have an arch you can't join or if you are color blind, hearing loss, failed drug test, plus the people who adminster the tests are so rude and mean if you piss them off they won't let you finish the tests - you'll have to come back another day...really it could be a number of things, he probably really upset now so I would just let him be for a little while

His urinalysis probably came up positive for drugs or he probably failed the physical test due to a medical condition.
