How long after you had your baby did you finally get a period? (I mean besides the normal bleeding you have for a little while after giving birth.) One of my friends had her baby 7 weeks ago & bled for only about 2 weeks after. She is wondering when her next period will come cause it hasn't yet. She's gotta wait for it to come before she'll be able to start the birth control her doctor prescribed. She knows she's not pregnant cause she just went for her 6 week check-up & the doctor tested for it.

I'm hoping she gets it soon though so she can get on that birth control. I'm afraid that her & her husband's stupidity are going to cause her to get pregnant again...they don't use anything except the pull-out method. I try telling them that it's not wise but they won't listen even though they know it's not a good method to do. Their son they just had wasn't planned & are barely getting by money-wise...they wouldn't be able to afford another.

Oh yea, she is NOT breastfeeding either. The baby is on formula.

I had my son 3 months ago and still haven't had a period. My doctor put me on birth control anyway though (although I haven't starting taking it -- shame on me). If your friend is breastfeeding, she may not have a period the whole time -- although it is possible for her to get pregnant.

It really depends on her body. But even with breastfeeding she could be ovulating. There are several mothers that will tell you stories of how they were suddenly pregnant again when the baby was 6 or 9 months old and never had a period. Although she could have periods without the ovulation too (as was evident in my case).

After my first, My period came back as if I never gave birth starting at 6 weeks and monthly thereafter until I went on the minipill - progestrone only pill, speifically Micronor - when my first was 4-5 months old.
After my second it didn't return for nearly 20 months after. (I also tandum nursed the older two which may have increased the length of time)
After my third it didn't return for 12 months after.

Although I started with Micronor without waiting for my period to return (first time was midmonth, second time was 4 weeks after birth). She can ask the pharmist if it is really nessacery to wait (It does matter for some BC pills) or better yet read the pamphlet it can with.

It depends if she is breastfeeding or not. I did not breastfeed so I had mine about 5 weeks after delivery. If she is breastfeeding it could take months. Here is some info I got off a site I hope this helps..
Nursing moms: One seldom-cited benefit of breastfeeding is that it delays your period.

If you're breastfeeding exclusively, day and night, it can take up to a year before you have to run to the store for tampons, suffer from PMS, or cope with cramps. If you're lucky enough to have a baby who sleeps through the night from an early age, your period will likely return sooner — typically in three to eight months. The same applies if you're supplementing with formula. In other words, the more often your baby nurses, the longer it will be before you get your period again.

Non-nursing moms: If you're formula-feeding your baby, you might start menstruating again as soon as a month after delivering your child, or it could take two to three months.

I was told recently by my nurse 6 weeks ago that it could take about a year untill I get my period because I am breast feeding too. Although she has a prescription, I believe that the best birth control is the shot that she only has to get once every three months. In my case the nurses gave me my shot before I discharged from the hospital.

It should be any time. With both my babies I bled for about 2 weeks then stopped. I started back up 4 to 6 weeks after that.

the easiest time for a woman to get pregnant is right after she has a baby. tell her to take a pregnancy test she should have had her period by now. the pull out method does not work i have a 4 year old to prove it!!!

on the well being facility I went to they were tremendous. They help you do what you wanted, everywhere, in a birthing pool or maybe with! I had to stay on the mattress as I had a drip and changed into continuously monitored. They delivered me tea, juice and nutrients besides or maybe had a television to assist concentration. Make a beginning plan and visit the well being facility the position you're planning on giving beginning, ring them and they are going to manage you a visit. reliable success
