I'm not really Christian, I don't believe in God, but I celebrate Christmas anyway, because I think Jesus is cool. Is that weird?

Welcome among us!

You don't need religion in your life, and you tolerate religions insofar as they are not too invasive.

Lots of Atheists firmly believe that religions are fake: these persons are actually anti-religions, anti-theists.

Other people don't care about religions, and don't need to fight against: these are other beliefs, that's all.
I call these people "Non-theists", ie they are not involved in religions but they acknowledge them as beliefs that help billions of people bring sense in their life.

Atheists cannot bear any religious label put on them.
Non-theists just don't care about those labels.

I am a proud non-theistic fan of planetology (science that studies planets), and I am glad to celebrate Christmas as a tradition that permits family to gather & share presents :-)

Welcome Non-Theist! :-)

I celebrate Christmas in celebration of the fact that all religious meaning has been raped right out of this once-holy holiday and it is nothing more than a consumer orgy and an excuse for overconsumption of food and booze. Just look at Christmas. It is the most secular thing imaginable. Fundamentalists are the first ones to say this and complain about it, crying with desperation that "Jesus is the reason for the season." But to no avail. So every year that I celebrate Christmas in the secular, consumer, mass media way it is a delicious act of blasphemy. Yum!

Christmas is pretty widely celebrated in Japan, where I lived for six years and where 99% of the population isn't Christian.

Even for people who don't formally believe in Christ, it's still quite common to celebrate Christmas -- I think that's strong evidence of the powerful influence of Christ and Christian values in the world.

I celebrate Christmas, and I'm an atheist Satanist. What's the point? Christmas is, to me, a family tradition. It's a time to share and be together. It does not hold, for me, religious value, but it's great to be with those you love.

I think most people celebrate Xmas to participate in "the holiday season" and be with family members. The religious significance of the events are lost on most people today.

Christmas doesn't mean anything to me personally but I celebrate it to make my family happy. Then that makes me happy on Christmas.

No nothing people do is weird in my mind, enjoy your Christmas.

Christmas isn't about Jesus to most people. It's commercial, about gifts and money, and a crap-load of food, bad music, and annoying relatives.

I'm not an atheist, but I'm not Christian. I do the Christmas thing to make my mom happy (yes, I am an adult that owns my own house, but it doesn't hurt to make her happy).
