I went to my mums works the other day, its sheltered accomodation for the over 60's where they all have their own flats, but share a common room. There were a few of the old ladies there doing some knitting and listening to an old record. I looked at them and though to myself I wonder what it will be like when I'm in a place like this, what will be going on in the common room as people my age 27 don't seem to do anything apart from play computer games!
Would love to hear your views on this subject

Don't know if I phrased my question very well, but all I want to know is..........What do you think our generation will be doing when we are in a place like that?????

I think for the elderly that are on their own Sheltered accommodation is a great idea, they have a common room to go to so they can always find someone to talk to if they feel lonely, I also think that as a lot of the elderly are very vulnerable been on their own its a safe and secure place for them to be at home in, I reckon by the time we get to go into the aged accommodation places we could possibly have those villages for the elderly like they do in America and Australia, that would be much better too as you have your own unit but have tons of facilities to use and enjoy, so you can be as active or as inactive as you like, they are very safe places to live so maybe it would be a good idea here, though as the art of spoken communication is become less and less in this world due to mobile phones and computers maybe the only way to have contact with anyone by the time were old is to do it through phone or computer in a tiny little room all alone..

have seen these rooms myself as my father is a warden, one of the common rooms is going of all the time last week there was 4 complaints about noise in the early hours of the morning. turned out as three of them were having' a party till about 3 in the morning. lol there was these two women ones passed away now but when they were in the common room they would sit opposite each other every time but hadn't spoken for about 5 years as one complained about the others telly being played loud any time of the day or night turns out she was hearing things for years .
I kinda think it will be the same in the future but we'll be a bit more hi tec, like robotic wardens that need counselling every now and then.

I think everyone will sit in their rooms and play vieo games. They just won't have to get ready for work, and their meals will be brought to them.
