i was born a catholic an i can see where your coming from i no longer beleive in jesus an when i started to question my faith everyone started arguing with me and turning up there noses at me but screw them anyway ,most people that go to chapel are ok but you get a lot of people who go for social status and they are the kind of people who think they are better than everyone else and think they know everything but most of the time theve got something to hide the church i used to go to was full of them, every week they would all turn up all proper and prim with family on show but i used to work in a nightclub and used to see what most of them got up to eg getting pissed, fighting pulling weopns out on people , sex before marrigge , most of the younger ones and some older ones taking hash, echstay, cocaine, speed and cheating husbands as well, thus breaking rules that they are meant to beleive in an i think the ones that get offended know they are living a lie and are to affraid to admit it which is why they take offence

It is rather tiring at times when questions are asked for the sole purpose of undermining, this could be just one of the reasons.
If a question is asked, then I try to answer it from my experience, and by God's Word.
It is only natural that people defend what they believe, especially about God, because He is infinite, has done so much for the sin problem, and yet man choose to rip it apart - sadly tho, they are rejecting the most important issue of their life. Man's greatest need is for forgiveness.

I am christian, and I don't care who ask me about my faith...My partner is atheist, and so what!
I can respond by myself, I never get defensive; I respect everyone point of view, and only I can get upset if you insult in some way what I believe. I don't insult and don't try that anyone believe in what I say.
I know God is their and no matter if you think he doesn't exist, it makes no difference for him or for me neither!

Because asking questions in any religion is wrong. If they asked questions they might find out the truth and then not be controllable any longer.

My Mom was not a religious woman, but she believed in God. I remember her saying that she used to just quietly have a laugh when someone said they did not believe in God. When I asked her why, she said "hang that person by their fingertips on the edge of a mountain, with no one else around........and see who they start talking to......."

Its not just christians but any religious freek will defend their beliefs if you question it.
Go question some Muslims and ask them why they don't look up when they pray or why they wash their noses out with water everyday... see what beliefs drive them to do that, then question it, then see how they respond to you.

we do not. i have in easy words considered a pair Christians on the following surely getting mad about a question. We get aggravated and aggravated (because a number of those Atheists ask the dumbest questions), yet we do not many times get mad.

If you ask a genuine and serious question most of us won't when you ask rude, vulgar or intentionally sacrilegious questions we do get defensive as that is your intention.

To a Christian any non-believers are the great unwashed and can`t believe anyone has the nerve to question their one true God.
