All day everyday we see Christianity, Islam, and atheism attacked here, but rarely do we see such attacks against Buhhdism, Wiccan, or agnosticism. Is there a reason for this, or have we simply been collectively negligent?

And fyi . . . I've attacked atheism and agnostocism, although clearly 90% of my questions are in defense of atheism.

Perhaps it is because Buddhism is based on compassion (as Christianity, at some point in time, was)?
Perhaps it is because many people are influenced, directly and indirectly, by Buddhist teachings? One can incorporate the philosophies of Buddhism into one's life without "being" a Buddhist.
Perhaps it is because the Dalai Lama, likely the most well known Buddhist in the world, has been a messenger of peace?
As far as "attacks" on Buddhism on Y!A, the closest that I've encountered is a person saying "Buddha all up on yo' grill" (some line from the show Robot Chicken) and a person attacking me on the basis of his claim that I was a Buddhist (which I am not) and that I had no right to ask a question "demanding" an answer about Christianity (but that doesn't qualify as an attack on Buddhism).

A lot of its teaching involves tolerance and forgiveness, and unlike christianity and islam, it's not dominating in the spread of faith which is brought about by swords and knives. When even the life of an animal is sacred, it's a religion that truly represents mercy. It 's a religion that would make christanity, islam and judaism look nothing more like a rivalled men's clubs if more people were only able to understand and grasp the profound soul of this ancient religion.
It doesn't matter that you spell the word wrongly because there's a buddha in everyone's heart, and there 's no temple better than your heart for a buddha to reside.
A buddhist quote( when the winds blows, it moves the leaves of the tree, but is it the leaves that is moving or is it the mind that is moving)

You forgot Satanism. It's almost never attacked, either, except when it's brought up here, and that's only ignorants who think you can't be an atheist and a Satanist at the same time (YES, YOU CAN), so there aren't really any attacks directed towards Satanism.
But that's for now. When all these less spoken of religions and philosophies gain more popularity, you can be sure we will be on the attack list.
P.S. You mispelled 'at', and 'Buddhism'... ;P

Buddhism is a Philosophy of life and not a religion and that's why it's rarely attacked in YA. Westerners mistake Eastern philosophical belief systems with religion. PEACE!

the reason Buddhism is attacked not so attacked is two part.
lack of any knowledge about it, and the fact it is a relatively peaceful philosophy.
as for Wicca I have seen ignorant statements like it is from the devil and that it is evil when any even elementary knowledge of its practices would dispel that in about five seconds.
as for Agnosticism how are you going to attack it besides saying that they do not have a spine and cannot make up their mind?

Buddhism is the most peaceful religion on the face of the planet.
Jesus was more of a modern buddhist than a modern Christian.

Probably because Buddhists, Wiccans, and Agnostics aren't telling everyone "You're wrong for not believing what I do! I have the truth, you're dumb for not thinking like I do."
I wish I could remember where I heard this: "Buddha wasn't Christian, but Christ would've made a great Buddhist."

When is the last time that you heard about a Buddhist terrorist? They are lucky in that they don't have idiots cowardly using their religion as an excuse to blow themselves and others up. Also, they teach a lot about personal tolerance and peace.

I actually follow some of the Buddhist teachings. Agnostics are atheists without balls, and wiccans are just like crazy cat ladies, few understand them, and few want to.

Probably because Buddhists aren't attacking anyone so they aren't going to get attacked back.
By the way, you spelled 'at' and 'Buddhism' wrong.
