I have posted on this subject several times, I am right there with you. I am 33 years old, and no stranger to cutting. I will bear scars on my arms for the rest of my life. I understand exactly what you are going through and the only way to deal with this is to get therapy.
If you are in the US, you can start with the National Crisis Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. I go through Social Services for my counseling. My therapist is a social worker and she is terrific!!
Social worker therapists also have access to a lot more resources, as they are more closely connected to the community.
I am in therapy and on medication for depression and I have been suicidal. I started cutting when I was about 19, but my depression has been around since I was in my early teens.
There is help out there, don't be afraid to ask for help. No professional will ever make you feel embarrassed or ashamed for hurting yourself, we all just want to help you get better!

Of course you should. You know you should. You need to find out why you are cutting. If you are young enough to still be living at home, this is the right time to get counseling.
When I was a teenager in the 70's, there was no Internet and I was, for all I could tell, the only person in the world who self-injured. I felt like a secret freak, and it was not until I was in my 30's that I found out (via the INternet) just how prevalent this problem is (there are many forms of self-injury, cutting is one of them). The older you get the more this interferes with your life. I have overcome this to a great deal, and that because of finding Jesus (or Him finding me and getting my attention), but self-injury still has a stronghold in me.
That said, self-injury still continues to be a mystery to MANY would-be well-meaning counselors. DEFINITELY get counseling...but you might have to "shop around" a little to find someone who really understands self-injury.
I have included a link to the website that first showed me that I was not alone. There are MANY resources there to help you in your search for counseling.
Spend some time at this site...read the resources...I do not know if they still have a forum to participate in or not, but the resources (check out the sidebar) will be very valuable, if nothing else, to share with those who would counsel you.

counseling is a great idea... however your problem may be beyond the scope of a pastor or somebody at church....
i highly reccommend dialectical behavioral therapy by Marsha Linehan...... it is a therapy designed for borderline personality disorder but also helps with cutting and other self injury problems... by making your life better.... go to the link i am providing below...and call her even and see if there is a DBT therapist in your area.....she also provides links to some sites about cutting ......

Look in the phonebook--you can find Christian counselors without having to go to someone that you know. You can find somebody who will give you counseling in a Christian aspect. I'd be hesitant to use someone from church, b/c they'll be more judgmental than someone you don't already know. Besides, is the person at your church even a licensed therapist/counselor?

I'd try the counseling hun its not going to hurt you. If counseling from a pastor doesn't work, I'd go see a proffessional. You need to do something. Its dangeous to cut on yourself. Hugs! Von!

The whole "Cutting" issue is not far from me emotionally. I have never "Cut" but I know about self-hate. Cutting in my opinion is deeply rooted. You have to grab ahold of the emotional weed baggage and pull yourself out of it. Find out exactly what it is that's causing this pain and get it out. Cutting can lead to worse things, possibly even to the planning of suicide.
