I don't understand half of what people are saying on here when they use Sh.ty words like LOL, do they just follow each other like sheep? are there no individuals on Q&As? I never pick as best answer, any gene pool slurry that uses the expression LOL. I suspect that they are all 13 year olds. LOL

I thought lol meant lots of love when i first saw it (about 6 years ago). Got an email off a bloke I sold something to on eBay and got really confused when he used it. No I don't use words like that unless I'm texting on my mobile, then use 'u' '2' etc cos SMSs are too short for full words so it serves a purpose

oh dear, this is a site for or ages and everyone has to be flexible to accommodate all ages not only 30 years and above even teens also have problems remember. I dont use Laught Out Loud (LOL) not because I consider it sh.t as you put it, but because I am not just into it, but I think it is funny and olds also use it too. Instead of hate, be part of this world my dear.

I never use LOL in my E Mails............because i do not know what it means. Perhaps someone will enlighten me please.
You are not the only one. I am joining your "club". It is beter and polite to say waht you mean, in standard words. NO fancy stuff - NO abbreviations. If you have to resort to such things - then this shows lack of Class and Breeding. Beware - the eductaed will find you out. L O L !!!!!!!

Lighten up ppl, it saves you from RSI using short form on pc.
LOL is 'laugh out loud' and shows it's a joke or whatever as this form of communication is very de-personalised. It can save misunderstanding. I do realise how annoying it can be if you don't know the lingo..lol

I never use LOL as there's a perfectly good word that already exists for this purpose, as anyone who has ever read The Beano or Dandy will know.

Don't use it myself cause I am a bit thick and don't know if it means, lots of love, lots of laughs or lots of luck, on EBay it might even mean lots of loot, I prefer to type the whole word so I don't have to confuse myself or anyone else.
