I don't mean to come off as stupid....but what the hell is an "anchor baby"?
I think I might have an idea. A baby born here that's so called "anchoring" the parents to be able to stay here? Just a guess.
As far as a baby dieing....that is sad..."anchor baby" or any baby....but If I'm getting your question right...they probably have ways of dancing around the system and continue collecting the welfare....as do many legal welfare recipients. ANY baby who becomes deceased is not supposed to have funds continued. The money is supposed to provide for the child....not the custodian adult. If the baby dies then welfare should stop immediately.
Actually....too many immegrants come here and have kids for the sole purpose of collecting welfare as a source of income for themselves. They shouldn't be here collecting on my tax dollars in the first place. I think they should be deported with the option of leaving with or without the baby if the baby is the only US citizen.

A so-called "anchor baby" is the only way an illegal immigrant can get welfare, in the sense that the welfare is for the US citizen. They in no way help their parents stay in the country. They cannot legally until they are 18 years old. They can and are deported with the baby and without. As long as the government knows that the baby has passed on, they would stop the wic or food stamps that went to that citizen.

Sometimes I wonder how stupid people are let near a computer...Where the f**k did you come from? You are talking about BABIES dying.I only hope that this doesn't happen so your sick brain won't have the satisfaction of knowing.Ugh,and you are a woman! How would you feel if your baby died?Anchor this, anchor that,a baby is a BABY!No,they couldn't collect "welfare"for the child after it died.No one could,if their kid died. But I assume that a person would be too upset with grief to care about "welfair".Do spell check.

Having a child here doesn't (supposedly) keep the parents from being deported. They can take the child or provide for the child to stay here.
In reality, of course, someone needs to be picking up that child's food stamps, etc., so clearly they are consciously 'not asking' the parents about legal status, or they wouldn't all still be here.
The parents technically can't collect welfare, it is for the child, however, some do with forged documents. Their status would remain what it was, except they would be sadder, of course.

Your thesis is incorrect. If illegal immigrants have a baby in the US, the baby is an American citizen. But that no longer impresses the people at Immigration. They'll still want the illegal parents out. The parents can leave the baby or take him with them. The government hopes they take the baby and, of course, most do.
