That is exactly why I refuse to join any religion. They all spout their own self-serving drivel in an effort to get you to join their exclusive Mickey-God Club, and they fight, squabble and kill over simple things like different interpretations of the same text. It's insane. Religion is supposed to be a force that allows you to live your life well, to treat others well and to basically do the right thing. What ever happened to "love thy neighbor"? The hatred and death caused by religious strife, even among different sects of the same basic religion, is insane. It is why I have always been, and always will be, an agnostic. I am just a little human on a tiny planet in a huge universe. I don't know if there is some higher force pulling the strings (other than the Universe itself, that is), so I am not an atheist. I will not join an organized religion...they have caused more death and destruction than the Bloods, Crips or any other organized group of people!
And I believe that when you die, that's it! End of story, you moulder into dust and that this whole after-life insurance you buy by belonging to a religion is set up as a method of control to make sure you toe the line. Again, that is my "belief", I could be wrong.

This is a really good question. Thanks for asking. I am no scholar, just a guy drinking his coffee getting ready to endure the hot weather.
Here's a sinners (my) perspective: I have chosen Christianity as my faith. I BELIEVE it to be right for a few different reasons.
1. Our Book, The bible. It contains 66 hand written letters, authored by people from different age groups, cultures, continents, and eras. And it flows from beginning to end harmoniously. If taken in context of the time and the culture, there are NO contradictions. It passes the test literarily, archeologically, historically and every prophecy has been right on, 100%.
2. Jesus is the only religious "leader" that actually claimed to be God. No other religious figure made that claim. Not ONE. So we must decide from this claim (over 400 times in the New Testament) one of three things. Either Jesus was a liar, a nut job or really is who He said he is. I chose door number three. By the way, this argument comes from C.S. Lewis "Mere Christianity."
3. I have seen and experienced the changes that comes by finding Jesus Christ. Christianity never brings perfection and is certainly a journey.
4. Last of all Jesus never came here spouting a new religion. He came here offering a relationship. God was already here, Jesus came offering a way to achieve a relationship witht he Father. I have and am still experiencing that relationship. I believe.

I agree, some of the christians I know are the biggest arsholes u could meet, yet think they are better than others because they go to a building every sunday. I believe u should be allowed to believe what u want without having other beliefs rammed down your throat. The problem is that in every religion most believers aren't happy to just worship their God, they are more obsessed that their religion is the right one and every other one is a evil cult. If they just got on with their on lives their would be no wars or fighting.
Believe what u want, don't hassle others for not thinking the same

Chris,
You are asking a general question but I think that the heart of the matter you are asking about is one which all of us and not just "religious" people must answer for themselves.
You believe that people will be judged by their actions.. very well we agree so far. I would ask you the following:
1) If I murdered someone what would you call me what? A murderer, right?
2) Have you ever lied to anyone - ever?
If so, what does that make you? (A liar)
3) Have you ever stolen anything, regardless of when or it's value? Have you ever cheated on a test?
If so, what does that make you? (A thief)
4) Jesus said, you have heard it said do not commit adultery, but I tell you if anyone looks with lust he has already committed adultery in his heart. Have you ever looked with lust?
If so, what does that make you? (Adulterer at heart)
WHY am I asking all these questions? -
If God is a holy and righteous judge - how will you or I escape judgment? God's standards for acceptable behavior are far above what any man can achieve. He also says that if you hate someone you are guilty of murder.
I would encourage you to take this seriously, this is no game, your soul is at stake.
You have heard it said that God is love, and that is right. He so loved us that His son Jesus, humbled himself and became a man - born of a virgin and therefore perfect because the Bible makes it clear that the sin nature is passed through the "seed" of man. Jesus became a willing sacrifice for our sins and paid our fine in blood. That is why Christians make much of the cross and His blood and call Jesus the "Lamb" because the law of Moses required the sacrifice of lambs to cover the sins of the Israelites. Jesus was raised to life and God the father exalted his name above all others because of his great sacrifice.
The major difference between all religions and Christianity is Jesus. No other religion offers complete forgiveness of sin through a legal and loving sacrifice that a holy God could accept as payment in full for our sins. No other religion believes that Jesus is both deity and man.
Feel free to email me with more questions. I’ll be happy to give more material.

I used to think a bit like you. How can you say to someone your religion is wrong and mine is right when you think the same thing about me? But then i met Jesus, and i know how lost everyone else is.
The thing is my faith means that what i wear and what i eat and all that other stuff is irellevant, because there is nothing i can do that will secure my place in Heaven. It's all because of Jesus.
I'll never be able to put it across well enough for you to fully understand what i mean via a computer, I'm not one either to judge people with other religions, but at the end of the day we all make our own decisions and i know at the end of it all, we're all gonna have to face God and he'll be the judge of everyone!

All religion is bull crap if not based on something sufficiently concrete and the only thing that is sufficiently concrete is the bible. Having said so the only thing that could prove any bible is the true Bible is if it is a 100% exact translation of the original Greek and Hebrew text. The only bible that is an exact translation in English is the King James. The only religion that stresses that they do only what the Bible says and follow God alone and not man are true independent fundamental Baptists. I'm not interested in a bunch of bull crap opinion only in what the Bible says, meaning I'm a Baptist but if there were any group of people that were closer to the Bible I would break all ties and join them in a heart beat. So my point is its not about religion its about simply following the true Bible and the true Bible alone. I'm not ashamed to say I'm a Christian and my sin debt is paid for by Jesus Christs blood "not by good works lest any man should boast".

Each belief believes that theirs is right and all others are wrong. What is the point of believing in something if their isnt one right one. I agree it isnt according to the food we eat or the clothes we wear that determines our salvation but according to the life we live.
What ever religion we believe in that religion has a set of guidelines for us to adhere to.
I dont believe that you will be judged on your actions alone there are other things that come into the equation.
Galatians 2:16
A man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

You may believe that our choice of religion doesn't matter. However, we're not going to be judged by your beliefs on the matter, but by what Jesus said (John 12:48).
If His words are accurate (and we have every reason to believe that they are), then every other religion contradicts them, and is therefore wrong, no matter how many people on this list insist on saying, "All religions are right."
True, we will be judged by our actions (2 Corinthians 5:10), but primarily on how those actions carried out the will of God (Matthew 7:21).

This is a debate which no-one will ever agree on.
The best thing is to go back to the beginning, to the origins of belief, back to when the people of the planet believed in Nature and the simplicity of being able to take a breath of fresh air and take that forgranted.
There were many Countries, many individual gatherings of people, all with their gathered beliefs, all coming down to one thing.
There is ONLY ONE GOD and all of the religions out there have just named him differently.
This god is called Evolution, and Nature is evolution and nature is magic.

Perhaps you are right about how we are judged. Your beliefs are parallel to some religions, too, you know. The Jewish beliefs come to mind. But I find that pretty depressing, because if we are to be judged based solely upon our actions, we've all failed. Do you know anyone who has behaved perfectly? Do you imagine that God is grading us on a curve?
This is why a faith that offers forgiveness for wrong is important to me. I know that I'm not perfect, and I know that I do need forgiveness. I believe that a loving God would offer that forgiveness opportunity to us if we choose to accept it, and not base it upon some strict regimen. That's why I find the Christian faith so compelling - it is centered around God opening a door to forgiveness through His sacrifice for us, in the person of Jesus.
Its not really about who is wrong, but perhaps it does matter if we seek God truly, and if He has established a means to fellowship with Him, we ought to seek that.

Neither is the right religion, all of them are the right religion. Its the person the follows the religion that matters. If someone takes whatever their book and religion says literally without stopping to think about it, its the wrong person, not the religion. The person chooses what to do, the religion isn't your brain.
