I had one when I was a kid. He was a great dog, but I would not get one now because of my children. Ironic huh? They have such a bad rep that I wouldn't risk it with my children, but mine never once crossed me. I would have expected him to be more likely to turn on us because his previous owner had abused him trying to make him mean. He would wimper and wet hisself at the site of a broom handle - really sad.

I love Love LOVE pit bulls! Great loving family dogs.
Pit bulls actually have a lower bite percentage than the golden retriever. Ya know the happy family dog? Pits are not dangerous dogs. For every Pit Bull that bites a person there are tens of thousands that DONT.

People who think Pit Bulls are "killers" are very uneducated on the subject. These dogs are naturally protective of their family and territory and PEOPLE enhance these instincts by training them to be aggressive, sometimes by abusing the animal. In short people are the killers, not the dogs. Of all the Pit Bulls I have owned, (6) only one was aggressive-we taught him to mistrust strangers until we introduced them. Then he was as friendly and loyal as can be. The others never so much as sneered at anyone. Why? Because we didn't teach them to be mean. So for those Pit Bull haters out there, PLEASE BE INFORMED BEFORE YOU PASS JUDGEMENT.

Pit bulls are too unpredictable. Being raised in a loving family helps to stifle the killer instinct in this animal, but you never know when it will lash out.
They were bred to be aggressive, it's in their nature. Like wolf breed dogs, they are too wild to be considered good pets. As friendly as an owner says their pit bull is, I will not allow my children near one, even if it's only half pit.
I can only hope that one day a disease comes along and wipes out the pit bull population.

I bred and raised Pit Bulls for years. They can be very aggressive but so can other breeds such as Chows, Dobermans Rottweilers etc. Any breed needs to come from good breeding. If you do not trust the breeder and can see the adult dogs to see their personalities than you do not want the puppies.Responsible breeders will not have a problem proving the quality of the bloodline of the puppies to you.

If you mean pit bulls, It really depends on how they are raised. I once got chased by a pit bull in my OWN yard. But I do see pit bulls and their owners and they seem very friendly.

It's usually the owners of the dogs who are the main problems.
The dogs are stronger than most which is why such severe injuries can occur.
We have good friends who have had pit bulls and their dogs have never been a problem.
Not sure you can generalize...even about pits.

for a dog they're ok. Pit bulls have reputation of being aggressive, though in most case, it's the humans who own them which make them that way, so I'd say I hate the owners who treat these dogs so badly they become aggressive.
