What I am seeking for you people is to open your mind about Islam before you decided if the Islam is bad, I know you are smart people and you can distinguish between good and bad.

I've opened my mind and studied many religions. I've found that they are all baseless. All gods are manmade. There might be philosophies in each, gleened from the societies they came from, that are wise. However, all of the major religions have many black marks against them. Whenever you rely on charasmatic leaders hand out edits from an imaginary god, you give them much power based on no evidence. That leads to totalitarianism. This holds true for Christianity and Judaism as much as it does for Islam.

Hehe I already know about Islam and have a great appreciation for it, although it is not my religion on choice. But this probably has to do with the fact that I am in college and take a lot of religion classes. I am sorry there are so many sad, uninformed, unintelligent people out there, and especially on Yahoo! Answers.

I'm so sorry that there is so much bigitory on the net for you to feel you need to ask people to open their minds!
the sad truth? people don't what to know the truth about islam, hinduism, etc. they just want someone they can point a finger in jealousy and anger... i just so happens that a very oil rich part of the world, is also the world of islam... if it was another religion, they would be copping it instead. don't take it personally. it is the way of the human to wallow in ingnorance and greed. and the islamis people are just as guilty of doing that as any other creed.

I have read the Koran. I didn't like what I read. Plus I don't like how the real Islam acts. Check out Iran right now. Check out Sept 11. WHY? What is good and bad to you? Can you say that the Iranian Pres is bad, 9-11 is bad. Can you say that covering their women and beating them for being uncovered is bad. Can you say that suicide bombings are horrible. Tell me, why I would want to know Islam.

Hi Sultan. Sometimes it seems like there are only religious fanatics out there. I call them the "dumbdamentalists". I have a Christian heritage, and my husband a Muslim heritage, but both of us are probably agnostics. There are plenty of good and bad people on both sides. The bad ones are very vocal and often offensive. I think you would learn more about Islam from reading the Koran than by browsing the Internet, but thanks for the suggestion.

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL..Anyway u can't convince all people because most of them are ignorant..I'm Muslim and i know that Islam is a wonderful religion and actually it is the best religion in the world but unfortunately media has affected many people so it washed their brains and convinced them that we are terrorists and Islam is a religion of terrorism...May God one day show them the right path and open their minds to Islam..

It's the same basic concept of believing that a higher power set everything in motion and it just does not compute. If there is a higher power, why do they do nothing now? How come they talked at one time but never again? What are they waiting for to reclaim the world?

But my problem boils down to the fact that Islam calls itself a religion of peace, yet Sunni MUSLIMS and Shi'ite MUSLIMS take turns blowing each other up.
There is a conflict of goals and image there. You cannot dismiss the rqadical elements of your faith (as annoying as they are) because they are convinced that there is the one, true religion.
You don't see Buddhists trying to eliminate the Zen Buddhists.

I agree with Spex. Unfortunately, those who are small minded are the first to speak out. Thinking all Islamic people are terrorists falls into the mindset that all Spanish people are lazy, all black people are gangsters/criminals, etc... There are good & bad in all races, religions, sexes....
