you apply not purchase! you are asking the card name if you can borrow money to buy a purchase. Then you have to pay it back with interest. Most people who say if you pay it off at the end of the month you will be fine are wrong! What happens if you lose your job? talk about all those filling bankruptcy...I bet they wanted to pay it all off at the end of the month. Also consider this math: If you buy something for $100 you will have to end up paying $117-$140 for that one item. Then if you are late with your payment you have late fees on top of that. I don't know about you but I can think of other things I can buy with $17-$40 dollars. Then you hear stuff like you can't buy a car or a house without a credit card. Well, if you save up for a car and pay in cash you usually get a discount. Then if you have a solid work history and money in the bank you can still get a mortage. Think about that before you get your card and be in debt forever. It is nice without a credit card bill coming in.

You should probably "look before you leap". That means study up on credit cards and the effects they can have on you finances if not paid on time and spending more than you should.

Best choice is to look for credit cards that do not have an annual fee associated with them, and have a low interest rate (if you do not plan to pay off every month).

Also, each time you apply for a credit card, your score will lower. Two cards should be the maximum number of cards you should have.

You don't purchase credit cards. You apply for them. They have a preset credit limit, which if you get accepted, can ask the issuer to increase.

If you are talking about gift credit cards, gift cards that act like credit cards, you can purchase those at Charter One, in addition to many other banks. You can put as much money on it as you want whether it be $1 or $5000.

Um, you can't purchase a credit card, but you an apply for one. Unless you are talking about those gift cards, in which case you might want to make your question a little clearer.

It sounds like you are new to credit cards. If that's the case, you will need to start building your credit with some offers like these:
