In controlling organized religion, which is a business no one is righteous, otherwise we wouldn't need them, no not even the pope. That being said, yes you are righteous, just as a duck is righteous in being a duck, man is righteous in being a man. The righteousness is in your heart, when it displaces evil and wickedness. We are told that God loves us, and this is true; therefore how could God love unrighteousness?

No one is righteous on his own. You are right to say we need help from outside. Yet all who believes in Jesus' redeeming love and sacrifice are already declared righteous by God. "through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous" Romans 5:19
What man cannot do for himself, God did.
To all perfection i see a limit; but your commands are boundless. Psalm 119:96

There is no one righteous, not even one. Romans 3:10
You can become right with God, and righteous, by accepting what Jesus did for us.
You're right, we can't become righteous without some outside help - namely Jesus.

Mother Theresa was the closest one I can think of..I am sure there are many more but as they are humble we will never hear of many of them. But then they aren't righteous all on their own. All humans have faults and righteousness is God's alone

If you read the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon you will learn that there are at least four, maybe more, truly righteous persons living on the earth day--other than the prophet and the apostles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jesus Christ had set apart three of his apostles to live among us until His return when he visited them on the American hemisphere in 34 A.D.
Believe it or not.

We are found to be righteous in God's sight through the faith in Christ that God has given us, not by our own actions.
Romans 4:23The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone, 24but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
So it is not from ourselves, it is the result of being washed in the blood of the Lamb.

there are so many out there who think they are righteous and only too ready to ram it down your throat... if i was you, meditate every day of an hour on this very question and the answer will come to you with out any help from so called righteous people.
spirituality comes from within... so that's where you gotta look.
