The prices depend on what area you are gouing to be in... The closest to the center of town the more expensive the hotels get. If you don't mind looking on the outer edge of Paris, you wll probably find the most economical ones. Check the Metro lines to see which have the easiest connections to the center of the city...
The least expensive hotel chains are
IBIS
www.ibis.com
Formule1
(There are 7 in Paris and prices run between 31 and 40 euros in october, these are the really lowest prices).
www.formule1.com
You can also look in :
www.accorhotels.com
They have 161 hotels listed
and
www.paris35.com
(Inexpensive hotel reservations prices start from 28 euros ...this is not a chain, but separate smaller or privately run hotels. I took a look and it's not bad at all! And these hotels have more of a true french flavour, not belonging to the big impersonal chains.)
(By the way, the Hotel George V really IS marvelous, but for a celebrity or millionare budget!)

There are few good hotels in Paris but it depends on what you want.
The Novotel Group have modern hotels very central and not celebrity prices.
There is The George 5th nice but expensive and full of really wonder full expensive antique furniture a place to be seen.
Best Western Elysees a charming and elegant hotel.
Have a surf and you are bound to find good places, other suggestion is if they still do them are long boats that moored on the Seine I have actually stayed on one and loved it the boat does not move anywhere except with the tide.
Can not remember the company I used sorry it was called L'Escargo (the snail) that might help!
Good Luck

Is it 500 euros for 15 nights ? It seems to be difficult to find a good hotel. One night in an Ibis hotel costs 75 euros. Ibis is the less expensive hotel in Paris. So 15 nights will cost 1125 euros but the room can receive 2 even 3 persons so it will cost 562,5 or 375 euros per capita.

Did you try expedia.com ?
You can find hotels there, and if you book it on the site, it could be cheaper than directly to the hotel.
But I think the better thing you can do is find a hotel outside Paris, in the suburb, so it's be cheaper, and with the RER / train, you'll be very easily in Paris.
