What if different cultures in different countries started spaeking English as they pronounce it?

You mean writing English as they pronounce it? Well, then transliteration gets a little difficult. Think of all the words in English that are homophones- how would you know which one they're talking about? Or what if people have different ideas about how something sounds? (You wrote "laik", I thought it meant "lake" for a moment, I would have written "lyke".) Having a standard form of the language is the only way to make sure that the meaning gets across loud and clear.

Go right ahead, it is better than the English of some on this forum...
Problem with your theory is that various countries have different pronunciations, so they would not understand eachothers English anymore.

Watts 2 ask answered correctly.. coz we all have diferent accents and ways of saying things.. I am glad i can buy DVD movies so I can have subtitles. No way could I have understood the dialogue in breakback mountain without subtitles

It is already terrible in english, but how about Chinese...if you speak as you write...what would you make of è¿æ¯ä»ä¹ï¼

i think some day the only way to write will be in transcriptions its a way uses IPA (international phonetic alphabet) that write as the way u pronounce the word

i think you said "why can't i write english like this?" i'm kinda used to it since i'm in singapore and differnt types of people speak different kinds of languages and speak english differently....and if what you said happened nobody in the world would understand each other clearly....
