Interesting interpretation.

There's always more than one way to look at it. If I'm not mistaken, French missionaries used to try and convert Native Americans by claiming Jesus was the protector of the animals, drawing, I suppose, on the shepard image.

People are so quick to jump to conclusions. Just because there are many similarities doesn't really prove Jesus to be a fake. I think that it actually reinforces the reason to believe in the son of God. If so many different cultures believe in stories that all seem to be just about the same thing shouldn't that mean the son of God's life is even more evident. Whether we call him Buddha or Jesus is irrelevant.

It's funny how the Christians poo-poo "pagan" beliefs that focus on the sun, the moon, and other aspects of nature but the more we learn about the origins of life the more we find that life on earth does in fact seem to to owe much to what's a fairly uncommon set of circumstances (distance from the sun, moon that drives the tides, etc.).

Well, I partially agre with you. Primitive man created spirits to understand nature around him. Those spirits developed into gods. So yes, a sun god and Jesus have the same mythological background.

You may personify anything. They are metaphors to help us understand the object (in this case, the sun).

However if your point is to prove Jesus = Sun / Sun God, then stories and myths are not solid enough.
