im from colombia but its dangerous there and i wanna go there. anyone been there lately?

People who have actually been there know that it is a safe place to visit. You just have to be sensible about where you go and what you do. Bogota is as safe as any of the other large cities in the world (there are, after all, over 7 million residents in Bogota). Of course, like any other large city, there are bad neighborhoods and places where you shouldn't go at night.

The countryside is safe, but, you need to know where you are going, because certain areas are lawless and have a higher amount of guerrilla activity. If you are going to visit someone who lives there, they will know where to go and where not to go.

Cities in the north, along the coast, are also very safe. Places like Cartegena and Barranquilla are fine to visit and you will have a great time there.

The last time I was in Colombia was about a year ago and I am going again in September.

I lived in Colombia for two years and just left last year. Some places are dangerous, but if you make friends, they'll tell you where NOT to go and how to get around safely. The big cities are mostly safe from rebel activity, but will have some crime as would any other place. I lived in "el Eje Cafetero" and it's more like living in a large town than in a small city. With all the fincas and mountainous scenery, it was beautiful and down-to-earth. Cali is warm, Bogota is cooler, Medellin has friendly, if not modest, people. Cartagena and Santa Marta are more like Caribbean beach cities than the rest. The people are very hospitable.

Is dangerous! like U.S.A.!! like MIDDLE EAST....
like any other place of the world. But If you go to a nice place in the big cities, nothing happens! is not dangerous, dangerous is where the poor people is located
