If 6 is multiplied by 5 (30) and then -2 is added to the product , the result is 28. Therefore 6 is the number. Isn't it?

u should replace the unknown number as x and the try it
5x + -2 = 28
therefore 5x=28+2=30
so x = 30/5= 6
