Many people believe that when you reach the first stage of successful meditation, you might be able to visualize metaphysical elements. What kind of realizations occur at that time, I would love to have real examples, if any?

You cannot Meditate a Vision up.
GOD give's the Vision.
If GOD don't give you a Vision, you just Imagined something.
There are different kind's of Vision's, the Highest being with your Eye's Wide Open.
GOD (the HOLY SPIRIT) give's them, then HE explain's them later as you Seek the Meaning of it.
Yes, I have had a few, so I know alittle bout' it personally. Hope this helps, I wouldn't want the Enemy of all Human Being's slipping a Fake to you to draw you away from the TRUTH. Ditto.........

If you meditate and expect to see images then you are meditating away from your self. You need to be yourself for this is how you are. Try to get closer to your self as much as you can, get real close and snug until your mind feels the wonder of you being you. Do not rush, do not push yourself, be gentle. At this point you might like to ask yourself - who am I? Do not seek the answer, your mind is pointing towards the right direction – towards yourself, and that is what you need.

This is the start. If you follow a religion then perform you religious prayers, or cultivate thoughts of normal nature - harmless and positive brooding upon things in your life. There is nothing extraordinary in meditation, it is all familiar and normal, like your own life. You can make your family members, or your loved ones part of you meditation - think about them, try to feel them. I sometimes think about things and people I saw while I was on buses or in market place during the day. It is good, it is relaxing.

For me when I meditate it is usually a very bright light. Which I believe is Christ and His love. Since that is what I meditate on.
