12 hours for the last one that I had. Schedule it for first thing in the morning. Much easier to fast while you are sleeping.

The Mayo clinic website says 10-12 hours before. I've fasted for 11 hours in the past and have had decent test results.

You should be fasting for 12 hours. Water is ok and NO BLACK COFFEE. Coffee is a stimulant and can cause a false result. Soo, Stop by the lab first thing in the morning and then head for that first cup of coffee and maybe a healthy breakfast afterwards.

You consume no food or beverage except water and black coffe for 12 hours prior to the test.
