No, not really. I am a Mommy of 3....My daughter is 17 (6-3-89), a 3 year old son (10-2-02) and last, but not least, a son thats 2 (4-4-04)!
((My girl is from my 1st marriage & the 2 boys are from husband of 8 years now. There are a lot of ppl that have kids earlier in life then have a baby(s) later, making a big age difference. More common than you'd think! Trust me it's NOT weird...IT'S LIFE!!!))

No, you should be excited about having a baby brother or sister. My mother-in-law, who is deceased now, had a baby at 13. She went on to have 12 more and everyone was a blessing. You will have so much fun when that baby is born. You will be the big brother or sister and that child will look up to you and just adore you. You can be a great help to your mom and the baby. I had a younger brother and I fought with him all the time, but if anyone tried to hurt him I was always there to protect him. You will feel the same way. Just enjoy your little one while you can.

Twenty years ago I met a truck driving couple who had a 2-year-old boy with them in the semi. She had not been able to conceive, so they adopted a set of quad brothers, who were than 24. When they were all out of college, she decided she wanted to join the father on the road, so she went to truck driving school. When she took the required physical to get her truck driver's license, they found a small cyst on one of her ovaries. After having it removed, she got pregnant. Don't worry, this happens all the time, and you will find that it will give you some good life experience for the day when you become a parent.

my sisters r 16 and 17 years older than I am. please be good 2 ur new sibling my sisters made my life hell n resent me 2 this day because my mom made them babysit. remember ur new sibling is gonna need a lot of love n understanding since they r not gonna have any children around there age in the house.
have a good relationship no matter what with ur new sibling they r gonna need u more than anyone. it really sucks being the youngest in a fam where the siblings r so much older. 2 this day I cannot do anything right as far a my sisters r concerned.

It's not weird at all but, If you are feeling this way you must realize that maybe your Mom has some worries about it. You should talk to her and let her know you support her 100% and that you are really excited to have a little sibling. You can explain to her that it feels a little weird because of the age difference and then the two of you can talk about it. Just make sure you are supportive of her while you are doing it.

These days - nothing is weird!
My mom got pregnant when I was 12, and had my little brother. I'm 24 now, and he's awesome.
I know how you must feel though... slightly jealous probably, and annoyed. However, you have to understand that your mom is probably really excited, and happy to have this new little one in the house. It doesn't affect her love for you at all. Embrace your new little sibling and support your mom :)

I have a friend who just had a baby on March 3, and her oldest will be 12 this month. She has a built in babysitter. Actually, now the novelty has worn off somewhat, but, she still doesn't mind helping with her brother.

Not at all! My brother is 14 years older than me. Sometimes these things happen. Can you sympathize with her right now? You think you are confused..a late in life pregnancy messes up all the plans!! Good luck and enjoy your new little baby bro or sis. Another chance Life gives you to step up and show how grown up you can be!

Not in the slightest. My brother is 9 years older then me and my sister is 14 years older.
I know plenty of people who have kids 10 to even 18 years apart.

Nope, not at all.
Maybe there are no kids in between you and the new kid, so you percieve it as a huge gap in age.
However, a lot of people have a 15 year old, a baby, and a kid or two in between. It seems kess strange then, because there's less of a gap.
