I believe most if not all angels are male, because you only have names of males in the bible. Also im thinking they were made in Gods image. However I feel mainly they are spirit, and not of fleshly bodies , but can take on the form of a fleshly body. I had a dream of a real angel that came to me once.
My 11 year old cousin Shane had just died , he was hit by a drunk driver while he was ridding his bike. He was bleeding from his mouth eyes and ears....he was brain dead but my aunt kept him on artificial life support for two weeks, I had a dream at the end of the second week, An angel came to me, He was male with white hair, He had on what looked like a white robe but it wasnt actually a robe at all, He was naked but I couldnt see his nakedness from the white light that shown around him , like a covering. He told me shane is happy now and lives in peace.

Actually from what I've seen (and yes, I have seen them, I work with them), they are all Light Beings - some brighter, some dimmer, they have a vague physical form, but more so than a "casper the ghost" type thing. They are often robed in white, some are just pure light and you can't tell though. It is not likely that you will see their wings, but on the lower-vibrational ones you will. The wings themselves range from white to black (including gold, silver, blue and violet) and range from feathered to scaled or skin. As an angel ages, the feathers drop off and then becomes just soft scale. As they reach higher vibrations and depending on their alignment or specialty, the colors of the wings can change with them.

I've never seen an angel, but I have read that they can be any form they wanted. Maybe its because they know that if they appear weird with wings or suddenly, the person may be frightened.

So to me, an angel is one who appears in a way where someone won't be frightened, giving a peaceful feeling for a person to trust immediately.

Allow me to give you a true description of angels as they appeared in Egypt. Definitely they can take several forms. And the way they are painted in church icons are correct. However, in years 1968-1971, when Virgin Mary appeared in Egypt, they accompanied the apparitions and appeared as follows:
