A major, major problem with the US Army in Iraq is that they are just not trained for peace keeping type operations.
For example, the US Army are taught to avoid eye contact with Iraqi citizens. Well that's gonna make them seem real friendly to the locals. The Royal Army in Southern Iraq were ordered to remove their battle helmets when on patrol and to mix with the locals. The mood in the British Zone is not perfect but the population is a lot more settled. European soldiers have far better training and leadership when it comes to this kind of presence.

Imagine how you would feel if Russian troops in full battle gear and armoured vehicles were patrolling the streets of Main Street, USA. Troops that could not speak a word of English, avoided eye contact and relied on helicopter gunships to protect them. All the while the occupiers banging on about how free Main Street, USA is and how democracy is working so well. There is no democracy in Iraq, people mainly vote on religious lines not on party policy.

I bet that any right minded American would react in much the same way as the Iraqis are now.

It is too late now to save the Allied presence in Iraq. Too many mistakes were made at the start of the occupation.
If they had come in there to with a clear order to help the Iraqi people maybe, just maybe, they could have made it work.

Because we're fighting a politically correct war. If the leadership in Washington would let the troops do what they do best, they'd all be home now because every terrorist in the middle east would be dead - along with a lot of civilians. But you take those incidental casualties in war because you're not there to make nice and get people to like you, you're there to win.

Right now we're not there to win. We're there to make nice. And it's getting our guys killed. I certainly don't like that.

Which is why I advocate isolationism. Bring all our troops home from everywhere UNLESS you are going to allow them to kill everyone who opposes them. Show 'em we mean business. Stop giving korans to the detainees. Stop telling the troops they can't have bibles with them because it offends the muslims over seas. Stop worrying that there might be a few kids inside a building where terrorists are launching mortars from.

We have all these nukes just sitting around - let's use them!

Let me think ... some 2,000 US troop dead from road side bombs, and 10,000 Iraqis dead in direct fighting. Gee, does that really look like troops are running? I don't think so. Part of it is that the leadership will not take off the velvet gloves, and fight this as a Total War. We are, once again, making the same mistakes we made in Vietnam. And, yes, I do think our job is done, it is past times to turn the situation back over to the Iraqi people and let them fight it out on their own. Unfortunately, we need to base to stage advanced forces into other nations in the region.

Where are you reading that crap anyway? The Islamic Militant Times. Truth is US troops reenlistment rates are higher than usual. Alot of guys are volunteering for their 3 rd tours. Afraid of Insurgents? Get a life. If it wasn't for hiding behind the women's skirts there wouldn't be any left. Shot and killed, That's true. About 1 for every 50 Islamic fighters. Face it you guys couldn't fight your way out a wet paper bag. Americans love to target practice and it's fun to shoot at targets that run that fast.

A few diffrent factors are responsible for this

1. The Media: News services particularly in the US concentrate on the 'bad news' because that's what rakes in the ratings.

Undoubtedly a lot of good stuff is happening there but it's not 'tragic', and to the media tragedy is money.

2. Belief: To those who live in the the middle east the US is a new frankish invader waghing a crusade to wipe out Islam.

It happened in the middle ages, and the believe it's happening again.

3. Patriotism and bad soldiers: Some of the resistance against America is done by those who liked the Baath government and will die to have it and the status quo pre-war restored. The desire to fight is further stimulated by those American soldiers who torture, rape, murder, and antagonize Iraqi's

We as a nation are governed by rules and legislation, so are the troops during wartime situations. They cannot just go through a village and blow everything up that we know is a threat. Even though we have the weaponry and technology too. Look at the detaining system. We catch one of theirs, we put him in a cell and make fun and humiliate them. Our troops go on trial. If they get one of us, we end up on the front cover with body parts missing. We follow humane laws while they follow religious law. We try to save who we can(woman and children), while they want to get high score for the most kills. We go to help save their country and we lose soldiers and the gas goes way up. Sounds like we are losing on Both ends.

God Bless our Troops...............

I wish we could just pull out so that everyone can watch Iraq BURN from their own indifferneces. then we can go in there again and again and screw everything up. WE're retarded........damn administration.

You are telling lies, dude. I am sure you are a pro al Queda Muslim.

Our soldiers are doing a magnificent job in Iraq trying to help those who hate them and shoot them and you should be thankful. Unfortunately Bush let the the Jewish neocons lead him by the nose and still does.

Soldiers who get caught with their pants down are the same soldiers who do not take FTX's seriously. It could also be due to poor leadership from the CO, comp XO, 1SG, platton leader and PLT SGT, and squad leader.
