Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

first of all: does she want to?
i know from exp. that fat people are not happy! that was my case.sure eating a whole pizza, big big Candy bar etc. make you happy for the while it takes to consume it! but after that? being fat is not an issue of will power it is a deeper issue.she should go to counseling or join like over eaters anon. or weight watchers.!
she can start though by cutting into half what she eats, like whole pizza:half etc, until she has no more junk food, then start eating healthy and excercising.i do the no cellophaine diet:nothing that's wrapped in cellophaine or comes in a box.also....i will not anything i think i crave :i always crave chocolate so i'll not have it.why do i never crave lettucce?
good luck.
and..don't pressure her!

Drink lot of water in empty stomach. Do regular exercise, preferably yogasana and chose those designed for waist line, stomach and thighs. Also do some Pranayama. Do it regularly for 3 to 4 months and see the result.
You have to stop taking Sweets, Ghee, Butter, Dry - nuts and fat rich food items.

Well, no incentive is good enough to try and get somebody to do something to do something for themselves. Money, however, is always a good thing. My advice though, is to beg her to do somehting about her weight and go running with her. Running can cure anykind of overweight problem, if you do it enough.

Nobody but your sister can try and lose weight. How about just being a great sister. How about asking her to go on daily walks or take her to a gym and work out together.

Pilates. But it takes time and determination. Reduce servings and try to eat at a schedule....preferably 12 noon and then again at 6 pm.

Salt causes bloating and butter is full of calories, so flavor pasta, sauces, meat, and stews with new herbs, garlic, and onions as a substitute.
