Should not be a problem. I left it on, should Hibernation. Was afraid that it will overheat, bought one of those laptop cooling fan; uses USB, quite inexpensive, about US$20.

See photo.

It should not be a problem, but I would set my power saver settings so that hard drive and monitor power down after certain amount of time. They will wake up when you move mouse.

Right click on desktop then select Properties. In Display Properties select Screen Saver tab then click on Power button. This will take you to power settings.

Additionally, My wife always leaves her laptop on, she has been doing this for years, and the system has never had problems as a result.

there shouldnt be a problem, except that your battery might go flat...

Make sure u dont have any open programs open on your desktop, else you could lose unsaved data!
Oh and dont leave your laptop on an uneaven surface (such as a bed or pillow) as the electronics wont be able to "breathe" via the holes in the bottom off the laptop, and the hardware and electronics will overheat!
