One of my dogs nose is so dry its like sand paper. It is also discolored. She has plenty of water all day and is kept inside most of the day. Has anyone had this situation and what did you do? (Note: it doesn't appear to be painful for her)

I personally have not came across this issue, and everything stated in this answer is merely opinion. Taking her to the vet is always a good choice. HOWEVER, not every problem needs a vet's attention. You stated this is not painful for her, so try going to your local petsmart (or any reliable pet store) and find out if they have something OTC for this issue. Read the directions on the back to see if it will cure what your pets' symptoms are. If it does not get better in a couple of days, you have no other choice than to take her to the vet. I also recommend going to www.globalpaw.com. I am a member there, and I have recieved GREAT advice from professional breeders and extremely experienced pet owners. When my pitty was a pup, she went through this brief stage(about a week) of not eating, and lost weight. I called my vet, and after hundreds of dollars in tests, we found that all she needed was some super-cal to kick start her appetite. See, sometimes OTC will work just fine.

Have you brought her to see the vet? A dog's nose should be moist.
