Why are so many people choosing ignorance instead of self-discovery?

Do people realise that WE are causing the problems on Earth, and its about time we started being far more responsible and effective in our attempts to communicate with one-another?

It's probably safe to say that Humans have been the most arrogant creatures on earth; not necessarily the most intelligent. As the days go by "scientists" are finding more and more similarities between humans and certain animals. That they are more resourceful, have more complex languages, and so on. And yet people are still surprised by this.

"Self-discovery" is a bit vague a notion, don't do think? Do you mean religious self-discovery, or some other form of enlightenment? Travelling? Trying new things and testing your limits? Trying to live with few to no material posessions?
But even then this sort of self-discovery can be cliche.

And so too is "ignorance" a vague notion. Ignorant of what exactly? Other people? Perhaps it's more tolerance we need.
As a writer I love writing about the other side of the coin, pushing the boundaries, being open minded about others. I am not blind to hypocrisy, neither am I ignorant of it.

The human world has always been a very hypocritical place - perhaps many people choose to be ignorant because it's easier that way? Some people struggle to live day by day, to work to pay the bills and feed themselves. Humans are basically the same as animals at heart - they don't like change, and feel threatened by differences. If they feel insecure they are going to lash out.

Hence we have "The West" feeling threatened by "Muslim" countries as they fear being bombed and lashing out, and the "Muslim" countries feeling threatened by "The West" because they have more firepower, and need oil, so they lash out too.

You can take the human race away from the Animal Kingdom, but you can't take the animal out of the human race. Call me a cynic but I don't think humans will ever change.

Sadly not all humans are equally evolved and the few who have become advanced enough to try and do something constructive instead of destructive to this planet generally choose not to procreate, directing their energies toward a greater good. This is short sighted because the moronic masses continue to give birth at such a rate that, even if the intelligent few manage to save the planet, they will have saved it for a load of de-evolving naked apes. The human population of this planet has doubled in the last 40 years, from 3000 million to 6000 million. This is the thin end of the wedge...

Maybe it will help to put this into perspective. Think about how long the universe has probably existed. Think about how long we believe the earth to have existed. Now think about the short time "intelligent" humans have existed. There you have it. We've just come out of the trees in evolutionary terms, and many of us are still there. Indeed, some of us have regressed further than that. If we manage to not completely destroy our environment, we might make it to a somewhat more civilised state.

Human beings often choose ignorance of the facts in their daily lives because it makes their lives easier to live. This does not apply equally to everyone, of course. Looking at the flagrant abuse of the English language, from spelling to basic grammar, just on this website...it's enough to make me cry. We are animals, we have a larger brain:body size ratio than most, but our actions are largely reactionary rather than deliberate, just like an animal's. I don't consider myself to be any different.

There is such a diversity of opinion, such a polarization of ideology that meaningful discourse is often unattainable. The subject does not matter. The truths one holds dear causes one to fight vociferously for their position, and it is the rare person who can see both sides of an argument and mediate compromise. We are so concerned about the way others see us, that we often mask our communications to hide our true feelings, just to fit in. This can cause frustration and eventual emotional eruption.

Because in our quest to learn and discover, many of us a very gullable and fall for the lies peddled by the meainstream media and advertisers. the corporate elite get us to flood our bodies with chemicals, from food additives to chemical detergent's which we absorb. When we get ill from these, we go to the doctor and he gives us more chemicals to counter the effects of the first chemicals. The next thing you know, you are permanently ill and funding the retirement plans of the pharmecuetical executives.

live clean. be healthy of body and mind. be open and connect with nature and everyone else.

most of us are actually doing things to help save the environment. like designing and building cleaner cars, fixing pollution leaks and helping to build a better tomorrow. we already know what you're trying to say. we've known for a while now. welcome aboard.

communication was step one. we're well beyond that. if you're still stuck on that step, then all you're doing is complaining like the college students and the liberals. stop complaining and go join a cleanup crew or something.

Ignorance is not knowing the answer. It has nothing to do with intelligence, unless it's the lack of.

Your question is a double way one.If i tell you why are people so stupid, means i am not stupid and i consider other people stupid. Then, how am i suppose to communicate with people if i don't respect them? Reformulate your question and then we can talk.
