If that were true then we could reasonably expect that theists would all roughly agree on what they perceive with this faculty, just as people roughly agree on what they see when they are (say) looking at a painting. However, this is clearly not the case - the world has seen an incalculable number of different religions, with different gods, different beliefs, different dogmas... There is no agreement, save that people generally adopt the religion of their family and culture, which is exactly what you'd expect if religion was invented and handed down as tradition rather than perceived directly with a kind of spiritual faculty.
So, I would say no, there is no reason to suppose that atheists are minus one faculty, and every reason to suppose that we see things clearly, unlike theists who are merely deluding themselves.

i think its the opposite, its the ones that have had to make up a god that are missing something.
In ancient societies people worshipped the gods of the sun and the sea and the wind, which were things they could feel and see but had no control over.
Then in the middle ages the romans invented the one God and his son Jesus and a Holy Ghost and the Arabs (Mohammed) invented Allah. none of whom anybody has ever seen but we are expected to believe and have faith that these gods will take us into their world after we die (if we do exactly what the proponents of these religons tell us to do.)
So use your mind, and faculties and senses and separate fact from fiction.

No. Every reborn Christian I ever met, started out as an atheist. I am sure that there are some that start out believing in God, in some other way, but I think it's the same hunger in all of us. Atheists do seem to have a 'look before you leap' attitude about eternity though.

They are not minus anything. They are just the same. It is just that they have decided not to accept certain things because of the experiences they have been through. They "think" they are intelligent enough to explain everything, when they really cannot. It's true they think a lot, trying to create scientific-sounding excuses for not believing in the Creator.

Maybe I was.... maybe out brains are set up differently. You trust in faith. I seek facts. Are we both wrong or both right? Who knows... who cares. We just need to get along.
