A positive and confident attitude is good. Knowledge is important, but not always the main thing, since most places are willing to offer training for the job.

Both of these attributes(attitude and knowledge)must be used complimentarily to achieve best results at an interview.
Really, interview rules are not set in stone. The recriuter objective must be understood by the interviwee in order to pose the right level of attitude and/or knowledge at an interview.
for instance an employer looking for a team player would place emphasis on proper interactive attitude than knowledge, while another recruiter for a scientific project would be looking out more for knowledgeable individuals

It depends on the type of interview and for what. Before you go to an interview, ask yourself: Who is the interviewer? Who does he/she represents? What does he/she wants?
If it is a job interviews, you might be surprised: The most significant factor in giving a person a job today is reading and writing skills. if you have these, with time and effort you can learn almost anything. So, adjust your self to the interviews environment and purpose. But do not try to be something you are not

They both are equally important. You could know everything about your field of choice but if you have the attitude and personality of a dead fart, you are going nowhere. On the other hand if you have a great personality and attitude but know exactly zero, you aren't going to get very far either. Try to find balance between the two.
