why are there dots in between avery word when i type in microsoft word?

It's to keep track of the spaces in between the words. If you don't want to use that, then click on the paragraph icon in the toolbar and they will go away.

You may have Show/Hide feature turned on.

Near the RH end of the Standard toolbar, click on the symbol that looks like a backwards P This should turn it off.

Word is just showing the white spaces ("Space, Tab, New Line") etc..in your document.

Go to Tools->Options
Select the tab "View"
under Formating Marks, Uncheck all the check boxes.

There you go........
