No it's not. It's mostly fiction.
But isn't it interesting? I read the book before I watched the movie. Book awesome-movie not so good. Don't go see it you haaven't read the book, it will be even worse.
To me, this whole hype about Jesus having a wife and kid is silly....
O.k. I can understand how that could be blasphemous if it's not true.... But in the grand scheme of things, wouldn't this just be one more positive notch on his belt. Being a dad and husband is a wonderful thing. So what (smile)?
I questioned my faith in Christianity A LOT after reading. I meaan you are brought up one way learning certain things...varying from that turns everything upside down. I learned that a lot of the things they said about the church is true however, all the holy wars and the church reaking havoc and cover ups etc...
But there is no real proof that Jesus was a dad. And there's uncertainty that the last supper pictured Mary Mag.
Needless to say,
Researching the topic is not a bad thing as this ultimately strenghtens your faith.
Go for it, and have fun!

I saw the film recently with my wife - and we both thought it was rubbish - that aside - if Jesus did have a child with Mary Magdalene and there are descendents alive to today - so what ? Jesus Christ was probably an extraordinary man when he was alive - but I feel fairly sure that is all he was - a man - and that he was probably a good showman or orator or all rounder - but then the gossiping started which over the centuries has turned to myth - I have touched on this before on other questions.
By way of example - in a thousand years, I wonder in which way the truth about Princess Diana will be twisted into making her something she wasn't - which is what I am sure has happed with Jesus - at the end of the day when all is said and done the truth is probably no more fantastic than like millions of people before him and after him - he did the most natural thing in the world - he reproduced and bought a child into the world - the fact that his offspring like to keep secret their identities today - is, I would say, very wise because of all the HYPE, (and that's all it is I'm sure), they would probably end up dead before their time as well - even today. Indeed - look what happened to Diana !!!

The specific locations of the movie are factual. The 'legends' surrounding them are full of speculation. The author (Dan Brown) of the book claims his writing is a fictional hypothesis - which means many scholars hold the belief that the existience of the secret society 'The Priory' does, indeed exist. Also, the legend of Jesus actually being married to Mary Magdeline and fathering a child has caused a lot of controversy in the catholic church. No one actually knows what happened to M.M. which is why the book and film has sparked thousands to being historical hunts for the 'truth'. I have always wondered: If the story is a complete fabrication, as the catholic church says it is, then why get so defensive about it? The author clearly states that the book is fiction.

Hey even the blue sky is nothing but an optical illusion. Facts may make up for reality but truth is an whole other ball game. The royal houses of Europe claim to be descendants of Jesus of Nazareth. But they also claim to be nobles (better than thou), but instead of being of even the remotest Messianic quality their existence comes closer to parasitic than one of relieving or redeeming for others. In their case it's like the apples from the Jesus tree have turned into Venus flytraps or something. If they were truly from his tree they would likely be a little more like him.
So even if the DaVinci code is real, does it reflect a truth we should aspire or that we can do anything with? The sky is black at night but after a few hours again we see through the optical illusion of that.

The book was simply well-written fiction. And again, if Jesus was just an ordinary man with supernatural abilities, how would you explain the supernatural healings coming to some terminally ill people through prayer today. I, for one.

it's fiction and I like that novel. I don't even think about the controversial but I just focus on the story. however brown wrote an attractive novel and I think he did survey for that. some facts are true but the others are not. about that's real or not I still dun know, but one more time its just fiction

No. This was in and out of the mainstream media so quickly because it was disproved so quickly. It was a very creative ficticous book with factual groups of people in it.
