Hi,
You possibly saved her life... Fleas will kill a cat if not treated..
If she is that bad, than, yes see a vet asap... they have the fastest most effective way of getting rid of fleas... Yes, unfortunatly your other pets and your house may get infested if she had so many... There is a spray called "Rid-a-Bug" at the Dollar Shop for $3.00 which can be used on carpets to control infestation... If you use it
" moderately" a little every day, you won't have to put the pets anywhere, simply do one room at a time.. The product is harmless once dry...
If you cannot afford the vet, baby oil sounds very good...I also read that Baby Powder can do the trick... The fleas simply suffocate... and NO water does not drown the fleas, but it will
get about half of them off... so you have to bathe several times,
you know...half goes, and then another half of the half ...and so on... It a longer process, but ading the baby oil, and/or Baby Powder should do it...
Check your other pets anyway and treat them all... If one caries any...they ALL will carry.... Believe me, I have 6 cats...
I went through the same problem... You can do it...
Really, you saved the little one's life... When they get very highly flea infected they simply die....
Be proud!... and Good Luck..... Give us feed back too!

Poor little thing. I agree with the first poster. The baby oil will smother the fleas *great idea* and hopefully at the same time, help her skin. She must be a mess. Maybe another bath and another combing (or 2). The water will indeed drown the fleas. Keep her outside until she's clean as your house will become infested. Good luck.

I was told lemon dish soap is sensitive and works great...I would try a dot of it...please dont put her outside! She could have anemia, she might need to go to the vet. I rescued five 3 week old kittens last year and the vet did put a little advantage on their necks and they were fine, even being that tiny. Advantage kills any fleas that would be in the house too. It killed all the fleas in one evening for us.
Still have my five babies and have been using advantage ever since...not one flea since that first day!
Keep her warm and make sure she doesnt have anemia...Good luck!

I have heard some bad news stories on even older cats who are allergic to flea products. Fleas arent affected by bathing and yes, carpets can be infected too. This sounds like a case for the vet

i m afraid the flea and eggs has gone under her skin. it is tough to quickly gets rid of them. Try sending her to the vet for an injection. Cage her up and let her sleep on flea powdered mat or cushion temporary. Sorry it sounds so cruel but you have to help the poor animal to get rid of it before it gets worst. Sorry no cuddling and hugging too.
Yes your house will be infected by now. Use flea killer powder and sprinkle them on the carpet etc. Leave it for a few days or a week if you can before you vacuum the floor again.

You could always bathe it in Dawn dish soap, the original blue, and it will kill the fleas instantly. I would use advantage on your other cats. Dont put the kitten back outside.Do Not use anything flea products over the counter as they are all toxic to cats/kittens.

I agree with the baby oil , but also add garlic to her food. This will keep the fleas off of her.
Also check her ears for mites. If she has them, put 5 drops of olive oil in her ears. This will not hurt her, but it will kill the mites.
Your house is probably infested now, so get a flea and flea egg killer right away.
Good luck!

go to your vet and get flea drops , here in the states there is revoloution and advantage, its just a tube with a few drops in it that you put between the cats shoulder blades. treat your adult cats and put just one drop on the back of the kittens neck, the drops being on the other cats will protect them and help kill off any in the carpet and in the house, eventually they will all die. No dont put the poor kitten out again.

If you have too many cats already, then take her to an animal shelter. I would definitely not return her to the people that mistreated her. If she's young and cute then some loving family will adopt her very soon. I know it's hard because I already had to do that once this summer, but I know my kitty is with a good family now.
