for example your little girl or boy got into an accident and she or he had to have a blood transfusion from lets say someone who you think "looks" like an illegal, would you do it? or rather let the kid suffer or..worse.? just a question not meant to offend anyone.
i read a story before about a very racist man, he hated everyone who were immigrants..and his little boy got run over by a truck and
was sent to the e.r., on the way to the hospital he was flagged down by vietnamese guys and he didnt stop because of course he didnt like different people.
when he got to the hospital he was told that they were waiting for the blood donor, and the vietnamese guy came and gave blood and saved his boy. i dont know if it was a true story.
just thought i'd like to share.
of course in the hospital all donors are screened for diseases in the blood, now there is new technology so transfusions could be safer.

I doubt the story is true. Blood banks have a supply of blood in the fridge. They don't get it fresh from the donor. Usually, a transfusion requires more blood than one donor can provide. Also, the screening process takes longer than would be safe for a child with such injuries to wait. In addition, the hospital wouldn't call in a donor after the injured patient got to the hospital. They don't have donors on speed dial.
However, I understand the point of the story. I wouldn't care where the blood was coming from as long as it had been screened for diseases. We are all the same, after all.
If it were my kid, I wouldn't want to know where the blood came from because I wouldn't want to know if it came from a child molester locked up in some prison. That would be too difficult to handle. Just give my child the correct blood type that is clean and safe, and do whatever else is necessary to save her.

I know a person that let her 8 year old niece die because her religion (or cult) does not believe in blood transfusions. She and her niece shared the same A-neg type blood and was the only relative that could have saved her. This happened 35 years ago and she speaks of it as though she just went shopping at the mall!!! If one's own aunt wouldn't save a childs life, you can bet your bottom dollar, I would accept the blood from a martian if need be for my child to live!

You are implying the the Vietnamese guy in your story was illegal regardless of proof. I don't believe an illegal can donate blook because of the paperwork that you fill out when you donate. If he was of a different race would not matter as far as blood donation. The right blood type to save a child or an adult is the only factor to consider.

Before this year I had only dated and slept with Mexicans....never got a disease. I started dating a white guy in February and the first time I slept with him he gave me an STD...
MOST Mexicans don't have diseases...of course some Mexicans do as do SOME Americans, but not MOST.

why should we help people that will not learn English seldom bathe live illegally in this country and want the American people to learn Spanish because there too ignorant to learn English i also would die before i accepted blood from a Mexican although i don't have kids but i also would sacrifice my child before i allowed the blood from a Mexican to enter my child's body

I wouldn't care at all. Anyone that wouldn't except blood from someone based on race to save them or their child is selfish. Blood is blood no matter where it comes from. The woman above who said she would let her child die doesn't deserve to be a mother.

Since illegals have not been cleared by any department of health, I would not want to take the chance of contracting any blood born disease. I would not take their blood.
All donors ARE NOT screened for all disease. That is a misnomer.

Of course I'd accept any ANY healthy donor for my child, I can't imagine any parent who wouldn't. I really don't 'quote' the bible to much but this story reminds me of the good Samaritan. We are all just human beings struggling along, doing the best we can.

How on Earth would immigration status affect a person's blood. Does the naturalization oath kill germs? I would take blood from anyone who donated, unless I knew they were infected and even then if death was imminent, I'd figure it'd give me extra years of life.
