Molding [trim] that isn't white, does it matter how I color the walls?

Most newer designs show a wall color with white trim. My home is kinda old. I want to add some color to the walls that are all eggshell white right now, but I am afraid to because all of the trim thru out is a darker wood stain. Would it look tacky? I can't afford to replace all the trim and I'm sick of white walls. All suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

You can paint the walls any color with a wood trim. White doesn't always look best anyways and keeping the original trim is a great idea. Don't worry about replacing it and don't let it hold you back from putting paint on the wall. Wood can go with anything.
