The word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

I hate to see people being so cynical about love. It's like marriage, in this day and age of one night stands and manipulation games, love is another joke. People "fall in love" and get married only to divorce b/c they figure out they weren't really in love.
I'm going to put this a certain way to get my point across, and I hope it doesn't offend anyone. I'm just apologizing beforehand if it does. You see a lot of fat people today. The US is one of the fattest countries after all. And how many fat people claim that they hardly ever eat and it must be their thyroid? And how many people should actually be admitting that they have an eating problem? I'm not being judgemental; I'm just saying face reality. B/c all of the obese people in America make being fat another joke....so when someone really does have a thyroid problem....people will just roll their eyes and whisper about how they are making excuses. No one believes anymore!
The same goes for love. America is in love with drama! And drama includes love and marriage and making babies and so many people are eager to jump into something that they convince themselves that they are in love when they aren't. In fact, so many people claim to be in love that it's just a big joke. It's the people that don't even know what it is that are ruining it for everyone else. All the examples of failed marriages and broken hearts....this is not real love...this is peoples' attempts at love that wasn't actually there. But it's causing this widespread cynical mindset where so many people sit around and wonder if love is even real.
Love is real. And when you are in love, you will know the point. Love gives you strength that I can't describe. You feel better emotionally and physically. You have strength to do things you never were able to do before. Love helps you find who you are and what it is that you want in life, b/c once you find that special person, everything else just seems to fall in place. Love is all about endurance and cooperation, and when you are truly in love, these things won't seem like an effort.
Too many people try to fathom love....just b/c they wanna be in love. It just doesn't work that way.
But there is a point to love!! And I do truly hope that one day you find love, b/c then you will see clearly that it has a most amazing point....an awakening equal to that of birthing a child. It gives you an entirely new outlook on life, and it's a good one.

To be obsessed about something to the point of necessity. Then you have a purpose in life. Otherwise we're just sitting here collecting experiences we'll inevitably forget with the coming of old age.

It's the way it makes you feel. It's like nothing else. Especially in the early stages. A better question is how many times should you be allowed to fall in love?

you sound like someone who has been hurt a lot in life. There is no real point to falling in love it is just an emotion that is built in to all humans and like rubber balls we keep on bouncing back for more of the same thing time and time again.Love and hurt don't really have a point they just go hand in hand.

I'm not sure what the "point" is; but is sure is one heck of a ride! It's fabulous and can't be beat. Just because it doesn't always last doesn't make it any less than a great pleasure of life!

When you truly fall in love there is nothing like it. Sometimes when it is not true love and things go wrong it can hurt a lot, but true love is worth it.

Well for the first reason, it feels wonderful,
you will know when it happens to you,
i do hope it happens to you,
the alternative is to live a boring loveless life,
