Ok, me and my ex made a one year verizon account for 2 phones. We recently broke up and that **** is on my name. I dont want to be sent to collections. What do I do if I am? What does collections do? How can I establish my credit again? Will this bill go away if I do get sent to collections?

Ask your ex to transfer his line (phone number) under his name so it can be taken off of yours. Im sure he doesnt want to loose his number and should agree to this. All he has to do is call the phone company and they will take care of it. Good luck

Pay it asap. It will go to collections, it is a big hassle. I'm not sure it will go on a credit report though, because phone's are considered a "utility". To be sure contact Consumer Credit Counseling (non-profit/free service) in your area to be sure. Make sure and pay something on it each month no matter what. As long as you are paying them something each month, there is not much that they can do. I worked collections for a retail store and as long as a customer paid a min. payment each month we pretty much left them alone.

Bills don't go away by ignoring them ( if THAT strategy worked, no one would be in debt). Contact Verizon and explain your situation. You may have to pay a fee, but at least it would clear your name and credit

You can have his line shut off and continue with just yours unless they are seperate accounts, then you have to pay a fee to have his shut off early. Better than what fees he may rack up with months of unpaid bills.

Collections will just harass you for years..then eventually sue you.

If you have no income they won't do jack.
