my mother's family is from italy. to be specific, my mother's grandfather.
i'm peruvian, but years ago i got the American citizenship but know i'm planning to move to italy and study there. i would like to know if
can i still get the italian citizen from my family? or Do i need to get a student/ resident visa independently?

I dont understand why? Past is past. If the chapter is closed then it should not be re-opened without sufficient reason. Unless you are giving $1,000,000 worth of beer per annum.
