broke up 5 years ago, loved each other but wasn't the right time, have kept in touch from time to time via e-mails and text messeges, never missing a birthday, but respecting each others lives as well, how could i know if she would consider giving it another shot without being direct or obvious, yes i have balls but would not want to cause any disruption in her life. any advice??would so appreciate it. tks.

if she isn't with anybody right now, go for it!!! you'll never know until you try. as they say...it's better to have loved and lost (even the second time around), than not to have loved at all. seems cheesy, but true. good luck :)

Well you chat on line and texts, why not ask if there is any one speacial in her life and see what she says. If she says no then why not ask her out for a drink and you can then get to see what she is like now as people change and see if it is what you want and maybe she could be feeling the same right now. It sounds like friendship is very special do you want to ruin that. If she wants you back sure she will let you know. Sometimes its hard to go back and pick up the pieces. After 5 years you would have both changed. Take one day at a time let nature take its course.

Your situation happened to my cousin. They dated in college, broke up, went their separate ways; he got married to someone else and was married for ten years, then he got divorced; looked up my cousin, and asked her out on a date. They found they still had things in common. And now they are married, and have added a little girl to their happy marriage.
