If you are just going to be polite, go to the wake, if the shin dig is for close family or the close family of your spouse go to both. Your great uncle Roy, only go to the wake.

Most people will attend the wake and not the funeral unless you are very close to the person and want to be there for the family.

That depends on how well you knew the person involved and your own level of comfort with the situation. Just showing up at one or the other is fine and all you can handle or have time for . Unless you were invited RSVP to both and said you would show up to both . then you have the obligation to honor your promise.

Unless the deceased is immediate family, attending either service is acceptable.

I've always attended either one or the other unless it's someone I'm really close to.
